I’m shopping for jewelry to give my bridesmaids as part of their gift, and I want it to be something they can wear day of if they want- I found a really pretty gold necklace, but they’re wearing charcoal grey dresses- will gold jewelry look good with the grey dress? Or should I stick to silver colored things?

Hmm. I am not loving the combo. Esp if they are going to wear black or silver shoes.
Any particular reason why you want gold? I personally would think that silver jewlery would be more appreciated than gold, even though I LOVE gold.

Hm, thanks for the opinion. I’m not set on gold, I just found this beautiful necklace on etsy that is only in gold (and I could probably ask for it in silver, but I don’t think it would look as good in silver.) As far as I know none of my girls have particular penchants for either gold or silver, but they’ll be wearing green shoes. Any more thoughts out there?

I think gold would look great! Yellow and gray is such a great color combo, so I don’t see why gold wouldn’t work!

Here is an example of gold with grey. I’m not a fan of gold, but I don’t think it looks bad.

You can do a brass tone or antique gold vs the normal yellow gold. Or two tone jewelry. One that has silver with gold accents.

I like the gold with grey. I think it looks elegant, and I like that it provides a bit more contrast than silver jewelry would.

Gold and grey go together. It is just a modified palette of the grey and yellow and is so popular in weddings right now. I think grey dresses would look pretty with brushed or muted gold jewelry, as opposed to a bright and brassy gold.

I alternate yellow gold and white metals, and I usually wear yellow gold when I wear grey. i find the contrast very rich looking.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I’ll have to take a closer look- it’s hard to tell from the picture if the necklace I’m considering is bright or brushed gold. 🙂

In order to look good, jewelry should be chosen basing on the person’s complexion (not the outfit!!!). For example, some people can wear gold if their skin has the right undertone (that is, warm), some others need to wear silver (because their skin has a cold undertone). Also the colors of the outfit should be chosen on the complexion of your BMs. My BMs and I all have cold undertones, so we are going with silver, platinum, pewter.

Gold, grey, and pale pink is one of my favorite color combos.

Actually, gold and grey are my colors, only I have it reversed. Gold (its a very soft gold) is the main color and the accent is grey.

A little late on this post….but I was also wondering about mixing gold jewelry with a greyish dress.
My wedding colors are silver and gold (but more of the muted metallics rather than the brassy that @jordynrose was talking about). Originally, I wanted to just ask each Bridesmaid or Best Man to choose their favorite LBD…but then I saw pictures like the one below and thought it would look so nice with varying shades and styles of grey. I’m wondering if it would look nice or clashy with the BM’s in gold jewelry?
If you ever read this post….please post a picture of your DM dress and the gold jewelry you were looking into!!

I just found this old post, and it’s the same question I’ve been wondering. Could I get some more feedback? What do you think of the gold/gray conundrum, ladies?
