Aw I’m sorry… do you have a difficult relationship with his mom? Maybe you can write him a letter every day and then ship them all at once? I think it would really cheer him up to see how much you’d written!

@cyndistar3: this must be so tough for you. I remember being stressed when my bff/bridesman went away.  Don’t let the stress of the Future Mother-In-Law get to you. Hopefully it was just an error on her part.

@SnowPeony: I’m sure it’ll warm his heart to read your letters, just as much as it’ll warm yours to read his! Godspeed, mail!

It took about a week for my dad to get the address for my brother when he left for basic. Hang in there!

It’s a little different for me since it’s my brother, and I already lived in another state when he left in Jan, but these past few months have flown by and he is graduating in 2 weeks! He got really, really homesick in the beginning and really looked forward to letters, so definitely start writing now. I believe it takes a few days or something for them to get them because they are so busy but the more he has the better off he’ll be πŸ™‚ I like to write about silly things our family has done/said, I draw little “cartoons” and write down dumb jokes I hear, anything I think might make him feel a little closer to home.

What branch of the military did he join?

@cyndistar3: Ugh, facebook can be so annoying.  The initial shock of boot camp is scary! He’s probably trying to be brave for you, too. I agree with @SnowPeony, start writing letters/journaling now and getting your feelings out on paper. It will make you feel better πŸ™‚

@cyndistar3: So did my brother! He is in SC now, about to graduate in about 2 weeks like I mentioned and then going to Camp Lejeune.

There are plenty of sites that you can go to for family members for support and information about things as he gets to the end too (family day, grad, etc if you plan on going). My dad likes one in particular. If you have any questions or anything ever you can PM me.
