I have had such an awuflly drawn out journey to having the “perfect” dress. I don’t want to seem vain or wasteful, but I’ve lost my nerve! As most of you, who have read my previous posts know, I wanted the Amara Royale… nearly did anything and everything I could do to get the dress.
I won a beautiful ivory gown from David’s bridal, and for some reason… it didn’t ever tickle my fancy quite like the colored dresses do. I know its gorgeous, but traditional isn’t anywhere near my personality.
I couldn’t find it in my price range of my dream dress, so I bought a really gorgeous compromise dress on eBay for a great price! A black and white dress by Maggie Sottero called Beth. GORGEOUS! Bad news, the dress was too small. I didn’t have the heart to alter a Maggie. I took is as a sign to just buy my dream dress, so I upsold it. I am having seller’s regret. I had 3 beautiful dresses and now I’m wishing I oculd have kept them all LOL
Well I looked for advice from my Maid/Matron of Honor and Planner, both of which said stick to ONE dress… Well my confidence rose, and I just sold Beth and was waiting to sell the DB dress…. THEN–my Maid/Matron of Honor texts me and says… I think you should wear white dress, and then the red
Are you serious! AFter the MILLION times that I asked you to PLEASE help me figure out what to do?!? And you constantly said that its best to just sell them all and keep AMARA! The LAST thing I need was a speck of doubt on an already extremely tough decision. Now all kinds of thoughts are running through my head. I should have kept beth! Let out the hips a bit, sold the DB dress, and let bygones be bygones with the AMARA…… *sigh
why must I complicate things?
Well now I am left with the Amara Royale, and the DB dress… As I mentioned before I began to lose me nerve about wearing a red dress during my ceremony… but I don’t want to just forget about my dream dress because of tradition…my second problem is that I’ve seen brides in the AMARA at their wedding, and its just not as flattering on them as I felt when I wore it. Not trying to downplay their gowns in the least… I dunno…buyers regret I suppose.
My final decision will be this….
Keep the ivory (I mean I must have liked it at some point right?)
and keep the Amara Royale
This way my Grandparents avoid the heart attack, and my desire to be different is satiated—
It didn’t hurt that I made a $450 profit off of my Beth dress, and that my Amara Royale was 20% off and came with free alterations and steaming….
I’ve always thought having two dresses would be wastful, vain, and unecessary…. Well I guess I’m a big fat wasteful vainfully unecessary bride!!
But I bid farewell to my sweet Beth… May the new bride that wears you do you weill.
Are there any more of you two dress brides out there? What are your dresses?
