We haven’t booked any place yet but are looking at the Western side of Mexico for this reason alone!  Although I’m starting to realize the more upscale resorts are near Cancun, and the Eastern part of Mexico.

Caribbean vacations are relatively cheap and October is the PERFECT month to be there- you won’t die of heat exhaustion the first day, lol. It will be hurricane season, but chances are you’ll be fine and there’s always traveller’s insurance in case.

By The Way I recommend a cruise to Turks and Caicos or Mexico, or if you like big resorts then Atlantis resort in the Bahamas is killer.  It’s expensive, but sometimes they have deals.

A crurise could be very nice. We really enjoyed our time on the ship as well as our excursions so if you encounter bad weather you itinerary may change but you should still have a really nice time. We really enjoyed being able to have a nice dinner then head off to a show and a comedian then end the night with a toga party all while having a few drinks and not worrying who had to drive home!

@crmaha12: you will love jamaica! thats where we honeymooned – i cant wait to go back

OP:

Cruises are usually pretty safe because if a port is closed for bad weather they will reroute you somewhere else.

my coworker went to belize for his honeymoon in october – they had great weather but a hurricane came the very last day and they had to book another  nigth since no one was flying out.

chances are you wont get a hurricane but its a possibility – check out travelers insurance.

I would go with Mexico or St Lucia. If you really want to be outside the hurricane belt, consider Aruba.

@k_nash: On 11/6 Fiance and I are going on a 7 day Southern Carribean cruise. We are cruising with Royal Carribean. The whole trip was less than 3K, which I think is pretty reasonable considering that we got a room with an oceanview balcony, all meals included, and we stop at 6 ports. All of the other resort islands we checked out were really expensive, and we didn’t want to be stuck on a resort compound.

We went to the Bahamas last year in mid September- I too was worried about hurricanes and bad weather but we had fabulous sunny 80 degree days all week. Good luck! I had always wanted to go to the Bahamas and thought our honeymoon was the best time to make that happen.

We’re taking a cruise to Bermuda at the end of October. Unlike most of the Caribbean, Bermuda rarely gets hit with hurricanes yet is still just as tropical. As long as you get insurance, you’ll be fine.

We’re also taking a cruise (my 4th FI’s 1st). We’re still trying to decide. We ruled out going to Jamaica because my Fiance is from Jamaica (my fam is from Trinidad). If we were lucky we could just go visit family but we want some alone time to relax, relate, and release 😉

I struggled with finding a place to go as well but we’re opting for Mexico since it will be so cheap!
