- Wedding: June 2013
A good friend of mine offered to play the cello for our wedding ceremony. I’m totally thrilled, but I don’t know where to start. I asked him about songs he already knew, but he said he’d rather use this as a reason to learn some new songs. He’s been playing since he was about 5 (is 25 now) and I’ve heard him play, he’s really good. Anyone know of any traditional-sounding, classical pieces that would work for a wedding ceremony? (For any / all parts of the ceremony – processional, bride’s entrance, etc.) I’m pretty open-minded. Classical music is not even a necessity. I just figured, we’d choose classical pieces for the majority of the ceremony and then have our DJ cue up one of the songs I can’t decide between, for our recessional (either Fleet Foxes (Ragged Wood) or Arcade Fire (Power Out). As far as I can tell these songs are not ‘about’ love or whatever.. but they are just so high-energy and make me so happy to hear them. I think either of these convey the ‘omg we are married now, hell yes!!’ tone we are going for, haha.
