I guess it depends on where she is going.

Biodegradable sunscreen if she is going the Rivera Maya and going to be snorkling in caves or near coral reef.  Regular sunscreen is bad for the coral reef.  Although, I wasn’t happy with one of the places I went snorkling because they didn’t really enforce it.

Here’s a good one.  Do you know what type of camera she has?  Is it a little digital point and shoot?  I got an aquapac for my camera.  I was thinking about getting those waterproof disposable camera but they are like at least $15 each and I knew I was going to go through a bunch of them.    I found this pouch that is patented to be leak proof.  They have a guarantee to be leak proof, too.  But I think I paid $55 for the pouch and it was totally worth it.  I know my pictures are a lot better than an waterproof disposable camera. I love that I was able to take my high end camera with me and take some really great shots of us and not have to worry about getting sand, sunscreen or water in my camera.

I know when I went snorkling, people were complimenting on my camera pouch.  I heard people were complaining that their waterproof disposable camera ran out of film.  I had a 8mb memory card and plus i have zoom on my camera, I love the photos I got from snorkling. I actually got my from my local REI store.  But you can order it from aquapac’s website.

What other things… hmm…  I got professional photos taken from the resort.  For me it was so worth it.

I went to an all inclusive, so pretty much everything I needed was there.

Bubble bath for a romatic bath?

A good book?

a bath robe? Although, my resort supplied us one.

Not that I would feel comfortable giving this to a friend. But I brought, pepto and all sorts of anti-diarhea medication, Just in case.  I brough advil and other types of medication. Just in case.  I know they charged an arm and leg at the store for that type of stuff.

sunscreen for hair?  I have this bottle I bought years ago.  I love it.

oil free sunscreen for the face?

I can think of some gag gifts.  Like a bottle of water, since you’re not suppose to drink the water down there. But it wouldn’t be practical to bring in with you to mexico, since you can’t take it on the plane.

That’s all I can think of at the moment.

we always like taking insulated drink mugs (to keep the frozen drinks frozen on the beach) and floats for the pool. It might be cool to give her a personalized drink mug (and one for the hubby?) Otherwise, sunscreen, a floppy hat (that can be in the water), a good book, chap stick, and bubble bath is a good idea! Good luck!

How about getting them an excursion, like zip lining or mini-speed boats through the jungle?

Or, there’s a great restaurant in Playa called the Blue Parrot. They do a fire show in the evening. You could get them a gift certificate for dinner.

If they haven’t set up a honeymoon registry, it’s a great way for them to get some help with their honyemoon, and allow guests to contribute to the fun parts of their trip.

You could get her a sarong or a cute beachy coverup!

A big hat and/or a visor.  And put everything in a cute bag, something that closes all the way…waterproof would be good too!

I also always take a super thing long sleeve or 3/4 length shirt for when it’s still hot, but you have had too much sun.

You could get her and her Fiance passport covers, earplugs for the plane ride, if you can find out what resort they are staying at you could do a gift card for a foot rub since they will be walking around so much, a Spanish translation book…. they will be on the resort and everyone knows English, but it would be funny.  Sounds like everyone has some really good ideas.  I’m sure you’re gift will be awesome!

What about a swim suit bag or lingerie bag?  I’ve also seen cute eye masks that say something like “tonight” on one side and “Not tonight” on the other side?

You could also just get her a gift certificate – that way she can purchase what she wants.

Actually going off of yrret’s suggestion, a giant SIGG bottle would be an awesome idea.  No, she couldn’t take it filled on the plane, but the big ones are great because (beside the fact that they’re so earth-friendly, removing the need to fill landfills with plastic that takes forever to breakdown) you can fill them up in places where you find ‘safe’ water and have enough to last you for a little while–certainly longer than the typical bottle of water.  My 1.5 L SIGG was basically my best purchase ever–I use it all the time and it provides a lot of water, which is great for a hot summer day especially. http://mysigg.com/store/bottles/1-5l-50-oz.html  And although the price on the website is decent, I think, for what you’re getting, you can definitely find them cheaper.  I got mine at Wegmans for $19.99.

As someone who has stayed at the all-inclusive resorts in Mexico, I have to say that the large thermal bottles are clutch.  Instead of going up to the bar all the time, we would just fill them up once (since its all-inclusive, they don’t care about filling your whole gigantic bottle) and then lay out by the pool with our drink(s).  Get them cute personalized bottles – but something insulated because the hot sun would warm up a drink in five seconds with a nalgene or something.  Ones with straws!

How about a swimsuit (big sales at victoriassecret.com right now), a swim cover-up, sunglasses with a carrying case, or a cute travel journal? You could also think about getting them something that would remind them of their honeymoon when they are at home like a molcajete (for making guacamole) or even a blender (for all those tropical drink recipes they may get :).
