So much has changed and it’s all good.
The backyard wedding idea ended up being way more expensive than expected..and we found an amazing all-inclusive venue for a better price! We now have a wedding coordinator plus 3 assistants to run the event….plus 5 catering staff and a bartender. wow!
Our newly-booked venue contracts catering with a wonderful local restaurant…we can do 5 stations for a total cost of $20pp….I was floored at the price! Huge yay! Oh and kids under 5 are free! And plated kids meals are $10! Oh, and doing allergen-free (gluten-free) special plates for the same price as the stations? No problem! I love these people. They got us an early tasting so my mom who now lives out of town can join us to taste while she’s in town next weekend! Mom said this is one of her favorite restaurants…can’t wait to try it! The tastings are at the actual restaurant, not the venue…and they’re making us a sampling of all the stations….win! We really like food so this is awesome!
Stations we are planning on having:
-Made to Order Pasta Bar with a live chef
-Made to Order StirFry Bar with a live chef
-Make your own taco bar
-Fondue Bar (both cheese and chocolate!)
we have successfully covered the vegetarians, kids, gluten-free, dairy-free, non-red meat eaters and non-pork eaters…and most picky eaters can find something they can enjoy!
So much food!!!

Wow, what an awesome spread! Where did you find this new venue?

@AlwaysSunny: My Fiance and I both grew up in the same city but about 30min away…and our venue is literally 5min away from his childhood home. I had never heard of it, and stumbled across it while googling venues. Their website kinda sucks, and I couldnt find the photo page so I wasn’t impressed. I showed it to Fiance the IT guy and he agreed. We looked more and we had found two places we liked well enough but not exactly right, and then Fiance mentioned he had driven by this lodge one time (it’s tucked back on a side road) and it was pretty on the outside and i agreed to go see it.We had my top pick venue tour booked the next morning. We canceled thact tour as soon as we finished this one! Man, was I blown away…its gorgeous…the website did not do it justice at all! They also have an on-site ceremony included! Fiance gets all the credit on this one!
In our city, most parks are owned by the park district..so the prices for weddings are $$$ since there is minimal competition This park lodge is owned by a township so the prices are reasonable as they are not for profit. They also can’t charge sales tax on the food, only the booze, double win! And his mom lives in the township…boom- 5% discount! So looking a little off the beaten path is where it’s at! This place includes everything (linens/flatware/china/glassware/sound equipment/even table decor and centerpieces…plus the service and all cleanup and stuff!)….for the same price as the land rental of the other parks that would even require a separate tent rental!
His mom does fundraising for a local non-profit and has used darn near every big venue in town. This venue’s max is only 200 so her events were always too big so she’d never been inside it. She came with us and the three of us had a pow pow in the parking lot after the tour and she was so impressed…which says a lot. Fiance and I marched right back into the office and signed our pre-contract….which we finalized last week!
