People do favors, like little trinkets or candy.  Those are very common.

The term “goodie bag” just totally makes me think of those little plastic bags full of like cheap toys and stickers you got at a little kid party, haha.  Actaully that might be better than some of the favors I’ve gotten at weddings 😉

Only type of goodie bag I know people do for a wedding is for the hotel, for guests staying at your block of rooms you reserved.

There are favors, and then there are welcome bags. Favors are usually left out on the seats/tables for the guests the day of the wedding, and the welcome bags are left in the guest rooms before they check in to the hotel.

We will be doing both, and I’m super excited about the welcome bags! 🙂

I think welcome bags are nice for people who traveled far and are spending a lot of money to attend the wedding.  They don’t have to be expensive or elaborate though- we are probably just going bottles of water, and some snacks and candy, and a welcome note.   It is a kind gesture and they won’t have to pay a fortune to have a quick snack or some water at the hotel snack bar!
