Hey bees! Sorry it took me so long to post, but on Friday my boyfriend- now FIANCE!!- proposed! I was totally not expecting it yet, I thought he would make me wait a few more months, I was so surprised!
So we live together, about 30 minutes from our home town where our parents live. He came up with an excuse for us to visit them on Friday after we got off work, but first he wanted to go for a walk at a nature park- there’s hiking trails and gardens and stuff. This is where we went on our first date. I didn’t even want to go because I was wearing sandals and didn’t feel like walking through the woods, but he insisted since it was such a beautiful day. So we were walking and making small talk, and then we reached a little bridge that goes over a creek, and he stopped and pulled a little portable speaker out of his pocket and started playing one of our songs. He takes my hands and starts slow dancing with me (which is something that we do all the time, so I wasn’t confused by it). Then he says “do you know what’s happening right now?” and I was starting to realize what was going on, but not fully until he got down on one knee and pulled the ring out of his pocket! He said a few very sweet things and then popped the question and we were both crying (and I’m talking intense ugly cries for both of us)- I don’t even remember exactly what he said but then we just hugged and I was over-the-moon happy! It was so special since it was where we had our first date, the bridge over the creek was a gorgeous setting, and the weather was beautiful.
And then I realized that someone was taking pictures of us! One of his mom’s coworkers is an amateur photographer who always wanted to do proposal photos, so she got some really great shots of us. The only picture I have right now is a blurry camera pic of her camera screen but you get the idea. After we collected ourselves, then she took some photos of us walking through the trails holding hands and some posed pictures. I can’t wait to see all of them! And then after that we went out to a fancy dinner at one of our favorite restaurants- he even brough a dress and jewelry with his for me to change into since I was wearing casual clothes for the proposal!
Anyway, I am so so happy. Fiance and I picked my ring out together but he was completely able to surprise me with a romantic proposal, and the fact that I had seen my ring beforehand did not take anything away from the romance. I had no idea that he already asked for my parents’ blessing- which he did on Easter. And today our parents and we got together to celebrate and my mom got us a beautiful cake. I feel so blessed!
Here are some ring shots from dinner and our blurry proposal pic!
