Noooooo. This is NOT a thing. I wouldn’t attend something like this.

Hard pass on that invite.

Those are disguised as a “Buck and Doe” where I’m from. I guess they are just coming out and saying it’s to get the wedding funded, yikes. Personally I find them tacky and wouldn’t participate.

Hmmm do they state how much they want donated?

These are common in some areas, either called a wedding social or a jack and Jill. They are the same- wedding fundraisers. It’s horribly tacky and many of the people invited to them aren’t even invited to the wedding – just there for their wallet! I even got an invite from someone I went to high school with who now lives two provinces away 🙄 no thank you

Meh. It might be tacky, but if it sounds like something you’d have a good time at, I’d go.

What area are you from? We have stag and does in my area  which are exactly what they are describing. I guess they are just calling it like it is. Even though they are common ish here, I still think it’s tacky as fuck and would only attend out of obligation for a sibling or if I was in the bridal party.

Bahahaha! No.

If I were very close to these people I would tell them how rude what they are doing is. If I were not close enough to tell them they are being dumb, I would just not go.

lindzrae :  well if you think about it when you book things for your wedding you only pay a deposit up front and the rest is due much closer/on the wedding date. So they very well could be using it to pay for the wedding.
