So I placed my order with Carabridal for my short reception dress on January 14th. It has taken quite some time due to the Chinese New year. I was displeased to see other bees receiving their photos before me when they stated they contacted and placed their order well after me, but to be fair, she gave me the timeline of end of February… so technically she is within her timeline (I guess I hoped it would be earlier after seeing how fast others were receiving theirs). Regardless, I am fairly happy with the results 🙂
I will first include the original photos I sent her:
I picked the lace and approved the colour of underlay via pictures. I was aware the blush pink was going to be much more dramatic than the original, but I was okay with that. I also asked that the eyelash lace be omitted. I mentioned that I wanted the skirt the flare out like it does in the photos, so perhaps she could add a small layer of crinolin. Olive said the crinolin would probably not be necessary because the organza would do this naturally. I also asked that the belt be detachable because I have a crystal belt for my ceremony dress that I might substitute in for the bow belt. Here is an image of the original without a belt:
They did take the liberty to make some unrequested modifications, but most of them I am okay with. And without further ado, here are my production photos:
And a side by side front and back view:
Here are comparison photos:
As you can see, they took the liberty to make the belt and bow WAY bigger. But in actuality, I am kind of a fan of the larger and dramatic bow. My concern is, the bow does not look detachable… unless it is detachable here where there is exposed stitching:
I also think that the neckline is not a dramatic enough “v” like the original. Or perhaps that is because it is not fully done up at that back, which is causing it to look stretched out? I also do not like how the satin is not flaring out with the organza overlay. I mentioned this to Olive and once again suggested a thin layer of organza to give this effect.
She made the dress quite a bit shorter from what I can see as well, but I like it this way. It could also be a result of my measurements, which makes sense. Other than that, I am quite happy. The quality looks surprisingly good.
Thoughts bees? Any other concerns I should be addressing?
