I got my dress and for the most part I think it’s going to turn out how I hope it will. I do love the details and the overall shape.
I ordered a size bigger than I normally would so the top doesn’t fit very well right now and I think I’ll need to get cups sewn in. I also think I want to take it in a little more around the thighs to make it slightly more fit and flare. Would I want a mermaid or hoop skirt underneath? Or nothing? I know alterations will make a world of difference, but I’m still nervous and I have to wait until May before I can get fitted :-/
I think the biggest thing I’m trying to overcome right now is I was so obsessed with this dress and I had to have it, so I’m afraid of getting regret. I love it for what I hope it will be, but right now I’m nervous and hate that I have to wait to see it finished. Part of me wishes I had waited to buy. I always thought I would have a very simple, classic dress until I saw this. I’m such a jeans and T-shirt, never accessorize, very low maintenance type of person, so this is definitely out of my normal comfort zone.
So, thoughts on what I can/should do for alterations?

Um lady, it is GORGEOUS. And I don’t just say that to people. It looks great and it’s so pretty. I love the top… Sparkly?!?! But subtle and classy. And your bod will look amazing and it’ll be even better once alternations fits it to you perfect! Don’t stress, you’ll be sooohappy with the finished product, I know it!

this dress has beautiful beading! congrats!
as to alterations, i would say just take it in on the thigh area for more of a fit an flare.. 🙂

I’m not even a fan of strapless dresses, but I really like this dress! I like the color and what looks like delicate material, beading and details. I wouldn’t change anything. I think if you do too much to it, it won’t look as elegant.

What a gorgeous dress! It looks beautiful on you!
I would plan to wear a long-line, corset bra under the dress to lift your bust properly into the curve of the dress. As for the bottom, because of the gentle, cascading ruffles, I would not attempt to alter it to make it more of a mermaid, nor would I wear a crinoline or hoop skirt under the dress. I would allow the design to flow beautifully and softly as it does now. You look fabulous!

You look AMAZING in this dress. Honestly, it looks great as is, except I know you want to get the top fitted better. However, I think if you made it a bit more mermaid it would look great too! Seriously though, you look STUNNING, it really can’t get a whole lot better than it is right now!

Lovely. I know I’m going to be trying on my dress when it gets home, but the problem is, I think I won’t be able to zip it up! I’ve been eating way too much garbage.

It is so beautiful!! Great choice. I’d say see what you think for alterations when it gets closer– maybe they can help you to visualize what it would look like just fitted vs adding a hoop/mermaid crinoline.
