I basically troll Marshalls, TJ Maxx and Michael’s (looking for a sale at Michael’s) for apothecary jars and I got my first three! I figured I would share my excitement over the cheap find at Marshalls with you bees!
And this is with a DVD case in the picture for a size comparison…these are pretty big ones:
I’m super excited…and now I get to slowly start filling up the spare room with wedding decor, haha.

how exciting! a little tip: you can stuff the bottom of the jars with tissue paper so you don’t have to fill it with as much candy! It really saves $$ since the candy is what’s most expensive!
also I found that although its less pretty the lids just get in the way when people are going to actually grab from them.

Nice! That is exactly where I scoured! You can’t go wrong with those stores!

@Rgeddy:yeah, my plan right now is to use the big ones for cheaper candy like cheapo hard candy and then get a lot of smaller jars to have the better candy in.

Michaels craft store always have 40% off one item coupons in their flyers or if you sign up for their email I just got a huge one for $7.50. So my plan is to just keep buying 1 everyother week til I think I have enough for my candy bar. I love saving money!

Can you remember roughly how much these were? Working on a tight budget and trying to figure if it would be feasible!

We’re working on collecting 5 of those now. When the weather gets nicer, my mom and I garage sale every Saturday morning looking for apothecary jars (and other various wedding items). Last year I found 2 jars for $1 each. I ran them through the dishwasher a few times and they looked brand new. I’m all for finding a bargain!

We got jars this weekend too. But ours are more like the nostagic “penny candy jars” I guess I would call them. With the silver lids. They had little scoops and everything! We **do** plan to get apothecary jars too though. Hope we can find a good deal on those as well!
Hey HIVE….Question…How many candy jars and WHAT candies are you having?

Joanns has buy one get one half off sales quite frequently too, so that may be an option for some of you. I purchased mine with 40% off and 50% off coupons last year. All together I purchased 7 apocathary jars. For candy, we are having:
- Sesame Seed Snaps (my favorite)
- Mary Janes Candy
- French Burnt Peanuts
- Milk Chocolate Pecan Caramel Pattie Chocolates (Turtles)
- Pop Rocks
- Pixy Sticks
- Root Beer Candy Sticks (FI’s favorite)
I purchased our candy from ACandyStore. They have flat rate shipping and the best prices for what we wanted that I could find and I searched and searched before I purchased. The candy also arrived much faster than I expected it to and was/is in perfect condition.

I know you mentioned the Michaels in our area closing because they are moving yesterday. Have you checked them out recently?
