I used ice packs the first day or so.  I looked like a chipmunk and had some bruising around my jawline, but it really wasn’t that bad.  Feel better!

Oh HEY- as tempting as it is to drink through a straw DON’T… you can get dry sockets from the sucking.

Awww!  I’m sorry hun – it sucks!

I was 13 when I got mine out, so my mom put the tv in my room (the only time in my life I had that lol) and watched lots of movies (intermittently, because I kept falling asleep) and ate lots of popsicles.  It is not much fun, but try to use the time to relax as much as possible.

Ice!! During the first 24 hours especially. It will keep the swelling down (less pain). Other than that, just the painkillers and rest. 🙂

Hopefully more bee’s come up with suggestions and advice because I’m getting all 4 wisdom teeth out in July.  Doc said, “Your’s isn’t the hardest I’ve seen, but it definitely won’t be easy.”  He suggested being put completely under with general and repeated at least 3 times that I have to be prepared to take AT LEAST a week off for recovery.  Lovely.

Ugh that’s no fun. Ice packs, pain killers, and sleep are your best friends. Cold soft foods help too–smoothies, yogurt, ice cream, etc.

I was so scared of getting mine out and everything went perfect! Probably the worst part was just soreness in my jaw that lasted for probably 2-3 weeks.

I used the ice pack, took the pain killers and slept. I ate mostly jello, mashed potatoes, yogurt, and smoothies for about 3 days.  Then I graduated to eggs and rice and very very small bites of chicken, etc.

Do not get ANY food in the sockets. I had a couple of crumbs and the pain was excruciating. I cried a lot and took a lot of percocets and slept. Eventually, I healed and I’ve heard that it can be a really easy process for some people, which is good news for you! Avoid anything with seeds, don’t use a straw, avoid sugars, and anything hard (not like you can eat anything hard anyways, but still). Smoothies with no seeded fruits are your best bet. throw in some protein powder and make it with milk so you get your nutrients and vitamins.

The actual procedure was fine (to those of you who are about to get your wisdom teeth out and are worried) You basically just drug out and every once in awhile feel a bunch of pulling and pressure. I was high as a kite!

I got mine out when I was 17.  My jaw swelled up a lot the following day.  The only thing I wanted to eat was the mashed potatoes from KFC.

I used ice packs, and don’t know what I would’ve done without the painkillers.  They knocked me out, so I was asleep for a good portion of the first week.  But don’t take them without food!  It makes me unbelievably sick for hours.
