So today Fiance and I had an exciting milestone, we moved into our first apartment! The last year or so we have stayed almost every night at his house together, so we decided that it was time to get a place of our own! It is TINY and I haven’t actually seen it yet (FI moved us in) but I am really very excited anyway. We chose it because it is pet friendly (it even has a little fenced dog park!) and comfy for two. I will be the only one there 5 days a week, so we’re going to be living together less than when I camped out at his house.
I can’t wait to get back home! Three more weeks!!! How long were you guys dating before you moved in together (we’ve been together for over a year and a half)? What was your first place like?

Congratulations! We’ve been living together for 3 years and had been dating for 2 1/2 when we made that decision. I did a lot of “research” about moving in with a SO because I was determined for it to work, which was kind of silly because I didn’t have any doubts or worries, I’m just an over-planner.
Our first place was a 2 bed 1 1/2 bath because we wanted to make sure there was enough space for us to have our own space when we needed it. I think it was a smart move, but we definitely would have been fine in a small 1 bedroom. We never experienced the adjustment period a lot of couples talk about when moving in together, it just worked and has been great from Day 1.

Yay, that’s exciting!
Our first place was a serious adventure! We were dating for like 3 months when we moved in together. It was definitely quick and looking back, probably not the best decision but we were young and stupid.
My best friend and I got an apartment together the summer of freshmen year. My relationship with Fiance was still new but he was pretty much staying there every night so eventually we decided to have him move in to make it cheaper on all of us.
None of us were ready to live on our own. We had wild parties 4-5 nights a week and eventually ended up getting evicted. We look back on it now and laugh but at the time it was pretty traumatic. What was also traumatic was the fact that the building was HAUNTED!
The apartment was in what we later discovered to be an old school for boys that partially burned down in the 1800’s (few casualties). When we checked out the apartment and signed the lease, we were told that a door in the apartment went up to the attic but that there was nothing up there so we didn’t bother checking it out (again, young and stupid). After moving in and getting settled, we decided to explore the attic. Honestly, scariest place I’ve ever been. There were 2 large rooms with secret passage ways all through the rest of the house. We didn’t have the balls to explore much but from what we gather, they led everywhere. In one of the rooms was an old school desk that we later discovered was bolted to the floor. At the time we didn’t know that it was a school house so we just thought the last people had left it there. As the weeks progressed weird stuff started happening. Lights would turn on and off, things would go missing and the cat was TERRIFIED. One thing imparticular that went missing was the tv remote. We couldn’t find it anywhere. Eventually we gave up and bought a new one but then one day the power went out so we had to go up to the attic to reset the breaker. THE REMOTE WAS ON THE DESK! Not sure why we didn’t just pack up and leave after that but we decided to stick it out by convincing ourselves that one of the other two must be screwing with us (not the case but it got us through). Other crazy stuff happened, too, but this post is already long enough.
So yea, that was our first place. Nice and homey! lol

We moved in together after dating for 1.5 years. I moved into his studio apartment. It was a tiny one room place in the bad part of town with no room for all my stuff. But we couldn’t afford a bigger place at the time so that’s what we did!
