@Rouquine:  I understand that, and she is entitled to want whatever pictures she wants. I even said, I realize the poster was special to her, but there was also a whole list of other things that were special to her that she did get, and there is a reason we have it in our contracts that we can’t guarantee every photo request. Because a wedding day is a completely hectic and uncontrolled environment, some photos just get missed. I’m just saying to weigh the pros versus cons. If everyone was irate with their photographers for any one single shot that was missed, regardless of how well they did otherwise, we’d all be out of business.

@PassionatePhotoLady:  well to be fair, we have no idea if her must-have list was 6 or 20 pictures long.

@PassionatePhotoLady:  If a paying customer is standing in front of you and asks you to take a picture of something, you pick up your camera and take a picture, even if you think you already got the shot. I think we all understand things happen the day is busy, but the customer was right next to the photographer in front of something they wanted catured. No exscuse on that one.

Oh no that sucks! If it’s any consolation, you look like a model in these photos! What a beautiful wedding! ๐Ÿ™‚

@PassionatePhotoLady:  Frustration and irate are two different things.  This was merely a vent on here.  Her DH was also upset.  Understandable considering the photographer said he got the shot.  That’s all.

Anyways, in the end, we all hope everything is resolved.  Good luck, OP!

@hisgoosiegirl:  You want me to say the photographer messed up? I have no problem with that. In fact I think I already have when I said we’re not perfect and we’re not superheros. But yeah, he should have taken an extra pic of the posterboard, but I’m saying I just don’t see why on earth he wouldn’t have done so unless he really sincerely thought he had had already gotten it?

Everyone here is acting like he just decided to ignore her request simply for spite or out of being a complete jerk. He obviously wanted to make her happy because he delivered such nice other work. What photographer is going to do all that extra work just to have a client end up unhappy over a photo it takes five seconds to take for no reason at all. I’m just saying a million things could have happened, so consider the possibility.

@OP, seriously, and no snottiness intended, have you thought of using a jpg of the file in the album? The more I think about it, the more I think using it as a photo backdrop for a page could be a super-cool way to feature it. I know you wanted the real life version, but it’s not a bad alternative solution if you cant afford to reprint it.

We all have different things that are really important to us on our wedding day, and I think any of us who have been brides know that the day absolutely flies by, and you don’t necessarily get to enjoy every little detail you spent hours planning for. So when some of the important details aren’t captured on film or video, it’s more than understandable to be disappointed.

@DeathByDesign:  There were definitely some things that didn’t make it into our photos that disappointed me a bit, too. I think it’s almost inevitable. I know that doesn’t make you feel better. But you should absolutely take solace in the gorgeous shots that you do have — they look amazing! And I think it also feels so fresh right now because your wedding was so recent. I only got married last summer, but already some of the “little things” (I know it’s not exactly little to you, hence the quotes) are starting to worry me a little less.

@DeathByDesign:  OMG, I’m so glad I could actually help in some small way. As soon as I thought of it, I thought how cool would that be. It’s going to be so much cleaner than a photo of it would have been too. I think I’ll end here on a high note and stop crashing your thread ๐Ÿ™‚

@PassionatePhotoLady:  saying ‘we’re not superheroes’ implies that the OP was expecting waaaaaaaaaaay too much from her photog and comes across rather snarkily to me.

That’s very different from ‘that sucks that he messed up, hopefully you get some answers when he calls you back and he has a picture for you. The rest of your photos look great!”

I don’t think anyone was saying the photographer needed to be perfect, but it seems rather careless to not have a shot that was specifically requested twice and the OP was told he had taken it.

ETA: glad to see the OP can use your suggestion. We used a details shot as backgrounds too and it turned out very nicely – @deathbydesign, if you ever want the link (if your album is DIY) let me know, and I can PM it to you!

I feel your pain, there are SOOO many details that my photographer didn’t catch. But a big part was my fault, because unlike you, I just told him to get “all the details” without really thinking that he is a man & a man’s version of details isn’t mine. I regret not being specific.

But I agree with another bee, where she said years down the road the detail pics won’t be as important as the pics of you, your groom, and family & I agree w/ that. In fact even though I love detail pictures, and was upset that I didn’t have more, not a single detail pic is up in our house, only the pictures of people. And honestly, if I weren’t on weddingbee, I don’t think I would of cared as much about the detail pics.

But all in all very beautiful pictures!!

@DeathByDesign:  I’m glad you’re already feeling better. ๐Ÿ™‚

We somehow didn’t have a photo of the exterior of our church. I’m not sure how it happened. My mom told me to just go take a photo myself, and I tried to explain to her how it just wasn’t the same… *sigh* I guess these things happen!
