After searching the internets and wedding blogs for ideas on locations we found the one!! Mr. RCT wanted to get married up in the mountains, since, well, we now live in Colorado, and the mountains are beautiful and they are in our “backyard”. And dang!! Mountain weddings are EXPENSIVE!!! We aren’t millionaires, so that proved to be a problem. Plus, most wedding venues have tons of restrictions on who you can have cater your wedding, and you have to use their alcohol and have a bartender. That last rule was a problem with us, since we homebrew our own beer, and that was another thing Mr. RCT wanted at our wedding: his own home-made beer. I found the perfect place online – it’s Snow Mountain Ranch near Winter Park, CO – and it’s cheap and we can have use whatever caterer, and we can bring our own homebrew!!! The thing that is crazy is it’s a YMCA. I’m used to YMCAs in the city, you know the kind, they are a city block long, smell like pee when you walk by, and are just gross. SMR is totally different! It’s on 5k acres in the middle of the Rocky Mountains. There are cabins/hotel rooms onsite, and it’s just frickin gorgeous!
We took a trip up there and decided on “Just Ranch” for the ceremony location, and one of their semi-permanent tents for the reception. Total (you will be amazed, at least I was): $1450. We get the ceremony site for 4 hours, and the tent for the entire day! Score!! Plus, if we book 20 rooms with them our reception site is half off! half off!! sweet!
