Your ring is amazing and congrats on your engagement!
DH didn’t propose after 4 weeks, but he told me he wanted to marry me after 3 weeks. Tbh, I thought he was a little cray 😉 We got officially engaged after 2.5a.
Oh wow, bee! Beautiful, unique ring! I love it!
My parents got married when they were 18.. no real jobs and broke as hell. They only knew each other for less than 3 months. They will be married for 42 years next may!
Congrats and best of luck. Look for positivity in a world of negativity.. Also be smart and know real love does take a lot of work.
From first date to wedding day was only 7 months for me, but we had grown up near each other and had community connections much like you. We just knew that it was right. We’re going on year 14 together. I think coming from similar backgrounds and community connections can help you know someone better even if you haven’t really dated long. Congratulations on your engagement!
Congratulations. Lovely ring.
Our timeline is equally crazy to some people (especially those bees who think you should drop someone if they don’t propose in 1.3 years time), albeit in the opposite direction.
We met the first week of November. Had our first date on NYE. I moved in with him in about a month or two. We got engaged 35 days shy of our 13 year anniversary. We will be coming up on 2 years engaged at the end of November this year (our 15 year together anniversary is this NYE).
What works for you may not work for a hundred other women, but so what? Don’t worry about your happily ever after not fitting some prescribed mold. Enjoy this time.
Congratulations! One of my friends met a guy when she was 19, they decided on their frst date they were going to get married which they did about 6 months later. They’ve been married 25 years.
My aunt and uncle got engaged seven weeks after they met. They’ve now been married for over 20 years and are very happy. Sometimes it can work!
My in-laws got engaged after 6 weeks of dating. They just celebrated their 31 year anniversary!
I think for many relationships getting engaged so soon usually wouldn’t work out, but there are lots of stories about times where it did too. It just depends on the couple.
My Nanna at 19 had a boyfriend. My Grandpa bumped into her at work, came back the next day and asked her out. She dumped her boyfriend. 2 weeks later he propsed. Nannas ma made them wait a year.
Married their whole lives until cancer took him 13years ago. Shes finally at the point now where she can joke “he promised me we would be 90 together. …. Im gonna kill him when I see him!”
Yaay for so many touching stories! I loved reading them all regardless of my proposal situation. It looks like the majority of the stories of a similar desicion comes from our ancestors, and they all spent a life together knowing the good and the bad times are to be handled with your companion. Thank you for your sharing.
Just be careful. I was also engaged early into a relationship, convinced he was the one, he was so charming and chivalrous. Turns out he was an abusive and manipulative arsehole who ruined my self esteem, body image and still effects me to this day – 5 YEARS later.
Have a long engagement, took over a year for him to show his true colours, and another year for me to realise what he was doing to me. I wish you the best and hope yours doesn’t turn out like mine
