Chaedra:  I think y’all did well. Both quotes I got (for a little more centerpieces than you) were for $7,000 – and I’m not a flower person!  I don’t like traditional wedding flowers, so I think some of it is due to having more exotic flowers.

Sadly I don’t think the price is that out there. :/  Flowers are crazy expensive.

I skipped flower for my wedding… and only spending $450 for the bridal party and the parents.  As for centerpiece, I’m using latern instead which cost me only $200 CAD for 25 beautiful white laterns from amazon.com

I am using silk flowers from a vendor on ETSY called Songs from the Garden, I think.  The flowers are amazing.  Granted, I do not have a big wedding party, but I am only spending about $700.

Bridal bouquet

Maid/Matron of Honor bouquet (included but I won’t use it.  This is a remarriage and we aren’t having adults attendants)

2 Flower Girl bouquets

3 Mother’s coursages (FI has a step mom)

4 Boutonnieres (groom, my son, 2 dads)

1 large centerpiece

8 small centerpieces

4 pew markers

This is what they look like and the bouquets are prettier in person.  If you look around, I think you can get better deals:

I’m not anywhere near new york, but I feel your pain!  I got quoted 2k from one florist and 3k from another for  1 bride (duh) 4 bridemaids bouqets 1 groom bout 6 groomsmen/FIG/FIB bouts 2 MIB/MIG corsages 8 aisle lining arrangements 5 centerpieces (comprised of high elements with a candelabra with lower elements surrounding) 8 small cocktail hour centerpieces All of that with succulents, peonies, roses and some other random flowers

And I’m sure much much more once I also have them add flower petals and decorative aisle petals

hehe, I just got a quote for $6,000! It’s stuff I was all in love with, and some rentals, including our chuppah, but still, I just laughed when I got that quote!

I am paying $1,342.45 for my flowers.  That includes my bouquet and one for the toss, 5 bridesmaids bouqets, 3 corsages( 1 for my mom, stepmom, and his mom), 9 bouteniers (him, his 5 groomsmen, dad, my dad, my stepdad), flowers for the church (pew, unity candles, 2 that sit on pillars, one for the guest book/program table) 26 centerpieces, 2 arrangments for gift table and cake table, 1 for the fireplace, and 1 for the head table.

Now before anyone wonders how I got all of that for the quote…the florist is a very good family friend and has known me since the day I was born.  She is only charging me the cost of the actual flowers and stuff to make everything.  She is a guest at the wedding, and has even done mock-ups of everything for my to see what she needs to change.  She is AMAZING.

SimonSaysBride:  I don’t live in NY and I haven’t gotten married yet, so I can’t give you too much helpful advice..but I have heard that whole foods has great prices for flowers. I’ve heard that they also arrange flowers (I’m not sure if there’s a fee) but all in all, what you get is for a fraction of the cost in comparison to having a florist design and create your pieces. The only downside is that they don’t deliver, but it’s worth a shot. If you’re looking to DIY your flowers, try taking a trip there, they have a wonderful selection. Good luck!

Funny this thread is back on the front page because I just received my first quote tonight and felt like I’d been punched in the stomach!!  Over $5,000!  I didn’t ask for anything elaborate or exotic and felt like the florist and I were on the same page at our meeting.  Apparently not!  And though I’d never say this to a florist, flowers are at the bottom of my priorities list- and I mean the very bottom (which I know is funny considering my avatar is flowers, lol).

Am truly considering becoming a DIY bride if my next quote is even remotely close to 5k!

SimonSaysBride:  I got quoted an obseen amount of money for flowers too. This is the reason I’m doing my own! To make my own including all the crystals and bits to make my bouquet, 2 Bridesmaid or Best Man bouquets, 10 buttoneires, 2 corsages and petals for our flower granny was 1/5 of the price of the cheapest florist quote I got.

Thats about my quote too… 2k for myself 3Bridesmaid or Best Man about 10 corsages/boutonnieres and 10-15 small low centerpieces- and I’m in upstate NY where things are typically cheaper… and I was told by everyone that was a great price! I guess I didn’t expect it to be that pricey but nonetheless I’m so excited to see them!
