this is interesting– I’ll pass it along to my friend who has this.

I do have one question: when you said shaving, did you mean you shave your arms? or your arm pits?  I think arm pit bumps are a different condition, simply caused by shaving irritation.

my own tip:  I agree that you should stay on top of moisturizing. I have this condition on my legs, and my dermatologist recommended alpha hydroxy lotion. I felt like it did nothing at all. just plain ol’ St Ives vitamin E lotion helps reduce the condition for me.

I have the wonderful bumps, on my arms and legs. I’ve known what it was for a long time, my best friend had it and her mom had taken her the the dermatologist. My mom figured if it was purely cosmetic I didn’t need to spend the money to go (our insurance didn’t cover specialists) and I haven’t bothered to go as an adult. Nothing I’ve tried so far works. The Neutrogena Body Clear stuff helps a little, but I do scrub. I’ll have to try not scrubbing and pick up some lotion with E.

I might have to tell my husband about some of these! However, be careful of putting Vitamin E lotion on your skin. I used to have eczema and someone told me to do that because it would help. Well it definitely seemed to help at first but then it made it SO much worse. I talked to my dermatologist and he couldnt believe I was putting Vitamin E lotion on my skin. He said tons of people are allergic to it!

@thehoneybear: Yeah, I’ll try anything at this point. Nothing’s made it go away in 22 years, so I’m definitely not expecting miracles! I use liquid Vitamin E on scars so I’m pretty sure I’m not allergic to it at all.

@soon2bS: Thanks! I’ll probably order some!

Thanks! I’m tried the shampoo this morning and it already seems like it’s calmer. not as red. I forgot lotion, but I think any lotion works well. I use body butter and it kinda does the same thing.

@thehoneybear: I think shaving might irritate your condition more (?)

shaving  exfoliates skin.
