I SAID YES
So I went on my first wedding dress hunt today. And actually bought a dress! But it’s completely not the style I thought I would go for. For real I thought i was going to go princess style – I LOVE horsehair (a bee recently had a stunning Haley Paige one) – but I tried a few on and tbh they all make me look unavoidably frumpy. I just do not have the body shape for it. I’ve got massive boobs and I think big on top + big below made me look a lot bigger than I actually am. I wear a street size AU12 (US8) and my boobs are F-G cups. I’m top heavy AF lol.
I’ve also worked my ass of at the gym, and lost about 10kgs recently, intending to lose another 5-10. I don’t want a dress to completely swallow all my hard work! So I ended up going for a strapless (!?) A-line (!!??). Fitted. Probably the furthest thing from what I wanted! My cousin actually wore a similar dress and I really didn’t like it on her. But her seamstress did an awful job so that’s probs half the issue.
Anyway. I’m in love. It’s 5 sizes too big and needs to be cinched in more (it’s loose AF in the photos – they didn’t do as good a job the second time around cinching it so it’s not as form fitted as I would like), but even with a half assed cinching, and a horrible “sample dress” hem it looks amazing. It’s Stella York Simone (turns out this boutique owns the brand. Who knew).
But yes. Please stranger’s, judge my dress! All comments welcome (I can take it haha).

sbl99 : Lovely. You certainly do not look like an F-G cup in that dress.

I think it looks lovely! You have a little volume on the bottom and fitted on top. It’s perfect to show off your figure and hard work!

Reading your post I was expecting to see things overflowing at the top and the bust area creased and weighed down but THIS DRESS IS PERFECTION ON YOU!! You can see your curves and it balances out your bust so well. You honestly can’t even tell your bust is larger in this dress. It’s there enough to give you shape and keep it classy! I love this dress on you! And can’t wait to see it fitted because I don’t think it even looks bad now! You made a great choice bee 🙂

You look amazing!!! That dress is so flattering on you.
I had a similar experience, I thought I wanted a full A-line with straps. But all the dresses I tried on were frumpy looking, and not flattering. My friends convinced me to try a fitted trumpet dress and I loved it! It’s crazy how you just dont know what you’ll end up with until you try on that one dress that’s the right one.

Dang girl. That dress is gorgeous (both in general and also on you!)
For what it’s worth- I’m not a fan of the Hayley Paige horsehair dresses. I know they’re hugely popular right now but I feel like eventually they’re going to be as dated as puffy sleeve dresses from the 80s. Your dress is both beautiful and timeless!

I think it looks great on you! Super flattering. It’s rare I find a strapless top or dress that I like the look of and this one is so nice!
