So keep in mind that when then stones are actually mounted they will sit much lower in the setting and of course the excess material on the mounting points will be filed down. Also there will will some pave along the band. I know this board is mostly women, but I’ve been lurking on here lately because it’s the only outlet I have for my excited over the upcoming proposal! Also, sorry for the lousy pictures – I’ll update post proposal! For some reason I don’t want anyone else to see the finished ring before she does . . .
I know everybody likes stats:
center stone is a 1.10 – 1.15 carat G-H color VS1-VS2 (I havent gotten the offical appraisal back) diamond that has been in my family for some time. Side stones are .24 carat pears.

That looks awesome! She’s going to love it!

Thanks everybody! One of the things I like best is that the side stones are set into a groove in a “beam” running between the prongs on the center stone, rather than having prongs of their own. I haven’t seen that before with round center, pear side stone rings. It’s been so fun designing this!

Unfortunately there won’t be any pictures of the actual proposal – she and I are both pretty private people so I’m not going to have anyone hiding in the bushes or anything! There should be pictures from shortly after though. I really want to share my plan with everybody, but I’m SO paranoid that she will find out and I can’t really describe my plan without putting in facts that might tip my hand if she happened to be snooping around here while I’m at work!
