Aw, this is so sweet!  I have about 3 weeks before I go back to teaching at the college level. I’m freaking out because I have SOOOO much more I need to do between now and then!!  But i look forward to meeting my students for this year.

Darling Husband hopefully! He had a first interview last week, and now we wait. Unfortunately, the way the contracts are set up at this school district, the teacher who resigned will teach the first three weeks, then the new hire will take over for the rest of the school year as a long term sub at daily pay rate. I think it’s ridiculous and not fair that they don’t just bring the new hire in as a regular teacher and let the teacher who resigned go to his new job in another school district for the start of the school year. Anything to save a buck these days. There will be second and third round interviews, so we’re hoping and praying that he gets it. Despite the stupid sub status, the new hire would basically just roll over into a regular contract for the next school year, so it is a permanent, career track job if he gets it.

If not, he’ll be back to school just as a day to day sub.

And I’m back to school as a student and as a first time lecturer. Terrified. Good times.

Not going back to teach but I’m going back to school for Medical Office/Billing. Starts August 24th. We will see how wedding planning goes during this time. It might take a back burner a little BUT then spring semester starts and I will be really stressed. It ends in the middle of May and I get married in June 🙁

Yup, a few more weeks and I’m back to teaching college part-time. I was hoping to find full-time job over the summer, but it looks like it just wasn’t meant to be. So maybe I’ll see if I can put my PhD to work at Walmart…….

@melisslp: Try teaching an intro course. Most of the students are going to be interested in the course. I’ve found as long as you lay out your expectations of them at the beginning of the semester they follow along just fine-those that don’t want to follow along usually drop.

@melisslp: You’re so sweet, thank you!  I’ll be teaching in an interdisciplinary program called “history and literature.”  It will be my first time teaching in this department.  My own field is history, so I’ll be stretching a bit, but I’m really looking forward to it. Best wishes to you too!
