@kittylove13: Lots of prayers heading your way girl. The military is a pain and I definitely feel for you…My SILs husband is Air Force and knew months ago that he also wouldn’t be able to make it but he is stationed in England so maybe the overseas stations make it harder to get leave? I assume too many things could go wrong while they are trying to get back to their duty station.

@kittylove13: You definitely have some time for this to get sorted out. I’m sure it’ll all work out for you!

So sorry to hear this! I’m in the Navy and while our pay (base pay, at least) isn’t the issue, leave is being handled case-by-case. Until we know fully how the shutdown will affect different sites, no one is allowed to take leave. The loss of contractors and certain government civilians is leaving holes that need filling. We’re having these issues at my duty station as well, it’s just a matter of trying to keep things up and running until this blows over.
Also, someone mentioned his leave being unpaid? Leave is always paid, you always continue getting a paycheck during leave, as you are a Sailor, Soldier, Marine, or Airman 24/7. Good luck!

@kittylove13: Keeping my fingers crossed that you dad will be there.
And yes I agree!! This lack of getting anything done in our government is effecting people who have absolutely nothing to do with their political non-sense!!
I sure hope your dad will make it!!

My destinations big draw is s natl park so its possible my guests wasted their money coming to our wedding.
@BeeG35: I hear ya. Every single one of our guests is coming from out of state for our wedding and over half of them have plans to stay for the entire week afterward to visit DC. Most of them are flying so its not like they can just turn around and leave early. Really sucks 🙁
