Hi Bees! I’ve got my first appt. with a bridal salon coming up next Sunday! It’s a small local salon (the only one within 100+ miles) & Is pretty traditional/conservative so I’m not expecting too much. A few weeks after this appointment my Fiance & I are taking an extra-long weekend trip to LA to run some errands for our store & visit friends. I also want to go to a few bridal salons while were there, my dress budget is around $1,000-$1,500 and I’m looking for something sassy/sexy. I’m already making an appoitnment at Dolly Couture to try on some retro short dresses, but I would love recommendations for other places to look at. I’ve heard good things about Wilshire Bridal & Wedding Time… What places would you HAVE to hit up for gown shopping if your in the city for a few days (& probably the last time before the wedding since it’s a 12+ hours drive for us)….

Check out Lovely – i’ll be going to their NYC store if I strike out at Dolly Couture next week – they have come highly recommended to me!

@kariface: Thanks! I just took a peek at the website & they have some lovely (haar haar) dresses!

Check out Pebbles Bridal in Woodland hills (that’s where I got mine!) and Karoza Bridal in Burbank. Both have TONS of options.

Check out La Soie in Pasadena. Small salon with an excellent selection of gowns. You can tell they put a lot of thought into what they stock. Great service as well.
Pebbles in woodland hills keeps a really large inventory in many styles and price ranges. they also have lots of off the rack gowns if that’s your thing. great prices there.

My vote goes to Lovely. They were amazingly nice and the whole vibe there is relaxed. Your budget wil not be an issue there. They don’t even carry dresses over $4,000.
I would stay away from Panache Bev Hills and Renee Strauss for the Bride. Just, no. I had bad to meh experiences both places.

I had a great experience at Panache Bridal in Beverly Hills and ended up getting my dress there.

Also, Kirstie Kelly in El Segundo.

I highly recommend Glamour Closet if you’re interested in snagging a desinger dress for a great deal! They sell designer sample sale gowns for up to 70 percent off the retail prices. You buy them as is in the store and do you alterations elsewhere, but if you’re willing to do some digging it’s a great place!
Basically when you walk in you’re given a baggie with a bunch of ciips on it. It’s not the traditional bridal salon experience, but the sales associates are friendly and will pull all fo the gowns you clip. Some of the dresses have issues and all need to be professionally cleaned, but they have beautiful gowns for bargain prices. I tried on a Vera Wang gown that retails for $13K but was sold there for $3200. They have lots of gowns within your price range. They get new shipments each month so you truly never know what you’re going to find.

You can check out Beautiful Day Bridal. Its in Ktown. They have pretty dresses in your price range. You can either rent or buy. And if you rent or buy they let you borrow their veil and their accessories if you want.

This summer I have hit almost every wedding gown shop in LA. Wilshire bridal is a waste of time for what you say you’re looking for. Nice staff, but they have a small selection and lots of poufy princess gowns. Pebbles is great; great selection, great prices, and they don’t require an appt. Bridal Elegance in Torrance is fantastic and they sell off the rack if the sample fits. Great staff, large selection, great prices. Glamour Closet is good for high end designer samples. However, they do not have a large selection of gowns for under $2,000. La Soie is ok, but over priced. They have a location in Torrance. If you find a gown you like there, go home and research it online. You can probably get it cheaper. If you’re wanting a short dress, you may like mine. It’s Justin Alexander 8465. The suggested retail for it is $1125. However, I tried it on at Mon Amie in Costa Mesa and then ordered it from out of state for below suggested retail. (Brand new, designer authorized retailer plus no sales tax.) If you try it and like it, message me and I will tell you where I ordered it from. I have more info too. If you’re thinking about a specific store, let me know and I will most likely have been there. 🙂

Have to share the news of the Glamour Closet sample sale this weekend. Every gown in the store sells for $499, $999 or $1499! I don’t work there and am not promoting them, but have been there a few times and they have some beautiful designer gowns that retail for over $3K so this could be a great opportunity to snag a sample gown from a designer for a killer deal. No appointments required, each person can bring 2 guests. They even recommend you wear snug clothes so you can just try on the dresses in store — everywhere is open for trying them on, not just the dressing rooms.
Good luck, I might even see you there! 🙂

@Meowkers: Agreed they are amazing at La Soie! Fabulous service – I went there as a walk in and they were so accomodating. I went to Mary Linn in Pasadena and was not thrilled. They did not have the sample that I drove 4 hours to try on and the samples they did have were really worn out. They have a large selection but just got the heebie jeebies from the dirty dresses.
