My family is coming to visit this weekend and we’re going to break the news that we’re expecting! I’ve already told my mom (she’s over the moon) but this weekend I get to tell my brother and my sweet Nana! So today we decided to go ahead and give DH’s family a call to let them in on the news as Darling Husband has been really anxious to tell them. We called my Father-In-Law first who was ecstatic. And then the joy abruptly ended when we called my Mother-In-Law. I’ve posted about my monster-in-law before. She’s extremely overbearing (as in she’s crashed our vacations), opinionated (she tells me what and when to cook for my husband) and honestly just rude (once she told me not to get “too used to spending her son’s – my husband’s- money”). She’s so bad that we’ve actually been to counseling for the sole purpose of her. I really can hardly stand her so I was a little nervous about breaking the news to her. Well just as I thought… the first thing out of her mouth was “Was this an accident?” FWIW we’ve been married for a year and a half and together for four years, we’re financially stable, both have great careers… I’m not sure why this is *so* unbelieveable. She followed with a few different remarks about how this she’s going to have to “get used to this”. Um, I guess having a grandchild that lives 6 hours away is going to be such a hassle for her?? The final kicker: DH told her that I’ve been really sick and I kid you not, she told him that the reason I’ve been so sick is because my body is trying to get rid of the baby.
All of this and my husband doesn’t really understand why I’m irked at her

loden: Thats horrible! Just wondering, why do you still have contact with this woman? Someone like that would be out of my life so fast.

This woman sounds like a nightmare. I’m so sorry she thought it was okay to be anything other than happy and supportive when you broke the news.

Yikes! So sorry bee. Nobody should have to go through that. Hopefully your family visit will bring your mood back up where it should be because that’s amazing. Congrats on your pregnancy! No negativity should surround that sweet precious little one that you are carrying. Wishing you well!

Congrats on the exciting news!!
You have Mother-In-Law and a husband problem. Seriously, he needs to shut that sh*t down. Have you heard of the DWIL board on baby center ? Highly recommend you check it out… ESPECIALLY Since you’ve been. In couples counseling because of your Mother-In-Law.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I hate to say it, but I think your H needs a few refresher sessions with that counselor.
