SeaOfLove :  yeah apparently my OB doesn’t typically start checking until 37w but since my pants were off for the GBS swab at 36w I asked her to do a cervix check and she said “if you want”

OW F*** IT HURT.  Other women say it feels like some light pressure or something? For me it pinched so bad.  It started like the pinch from a speculum for a pap smear but then just kept getting more intense!

Not looking forward to membrane sweeps, I imagine it’s only worse.

SeaOfLove :  Thanks for checking on me! 🙂 Yes, Tristan was born on October 1, at 6 pounds 15 ounces and 20 inches long. I had a 40 hour labor that ended with him wedged in the birth canal and me stalled out at 9 cm dilated for 8-10 hours, culminating in a c-section. He was never in distress and while it wasn’t an ideal birth (especially because the anesthesiologist messed up my surgery epidural and I felt a lot of the internal manipulation!), it was fine in the end.

Unfortunately we have been dealing with some feeding and weight gain issues for the past month that have been really stressful – but things seem to have finally turned a corner! I’m half nursing, half pumping/bottle feeding and he’s so used to bottles that I’m not sure I can go back to exclusive nursing, which makes me sad. But at least the little dude is getting breast milk still.

We are also dealing with another serious issue – the day after birth, our pediatrician flagged him as having some unusual head/facial morphology that indicated he may have a genetic / chromosomal disorder. As you all can imagine, this was completely devastating to hear. We’ve been in some limbo ever since while we get things set up to do some genetic testing – the first test is underway right now, and we will follow it up with another if this is inconclusive. Some of the potential conditions are highly associated with congenital heart defects, so we did a heart ultrasound and thankfully that came back completely NORMAL! I was petrified that he’d have to have heart surgery 😥 So thankful for those results.

Anyway, it’s been terribly stressful having so much uncertainty and the postpartum hormones were not helping…. I’ve never felt more crazy or on the verge of a mental breakdown! Those hormones have leveled out though, and I am coping much better in the past couple weeks

My husband has been absolutely amazing with Tristan – so loving and capable and hands-on. It’s so endearing and I adore him even more than before. We’ve also had great support from friends and family, thankfully.

He is a sweet, cuddly, relatively easy baby who loves being held and having his head stroked. He is sleeping pretty well at night and doesn’t fuss much, except during diaper changes and sometimes when hitting the “witching hour” in the late afternoon / early evening. We are very happy even with all the stress and uncertainty.

SeaOfLove :  thank you so much. He’s a sweet little guy and this has been a lot to deal with in the first few weeks of life 😥 How’s your little one?

Thank you Tiffany ! I’ll take all the good luck you wanna send my way, for sure. It’s been rough but my hubs has been amazing ❤️How are you doing – due soon right? Ugh those Last couple weeks suck! It’s such a joy to be able to pee normally again. Good luck! tiffanybruiser :

KittyYogi :  So important to have a supportive spouse in these situations!

I’m doing fine, due date is next Fri, but so far not a lot of action. I’m definitely ready to be done with this! I’ll get a membrane sweep at my appt on Monday if my cervix is amenable to it, so hoping that’ll move things along. If not I’ll probably get induced the week of Thanksgiving.

tiffanybruiser :  yes he’s been amazing! I think he kept me sane in those first few weeks. Holy shit that postpartum emotional rollercoaster is something else 😳 Hope labor goes well for you… I had nothing, nothing, nothing and was sure I was going to be pregnant forever.  then suddenly PMS like cramps in the morning and by that evening we were in the hospital.

KittyYogi :  That is encouraging to hear that it can come out of nowhere! Did your baby come early, on time, or…? I forget when your original due date was.

tiffanybruiser :  yeah totally out of nowhere! No lost plug, no broken water, just back cramps morphing into mild (at first) PMS-like stomach cramps. It was 2 days before my due date. I had been scrambling to finish things that week at work, and it was a Sunday, and I actually went into the office all day to try to finish a couple reports.  I had to leave eventually because the contractions were too painful to concentrate 😂

Your age/partner’s age: 31/32

Estimated Due Date: June 2nd 2019

Baby #: 1

# of cycles TTC: 1

Did you try anything new the cycle you got your BFP? Temping, fertility apps, CM, and lots of hanky-panky! 😉

What are you most excited for with this pregnancy? Watching my belly grow.

What are you most worried about with this pregnancy? If something wrong with my baby… like chromosomal abnormality…

Did you/are you finding out the sex? Or are you Team Green? Team blue/pink for sure! Will find out ASAP and tell everyone – no gender reveal party for me!

What advice do you have for current POASers? Be patient and try not to lose your mind. I was fortunate enough to get pregnant right away, but I spent a long time mentally preparing myself for disappointment. Most important thing I told myself that it’s totally and completely normal for healthy fertile couples to take up to a year to conceive! So don’t worry and enjoy the process!

Well this is crazy but a few hours after my response to kitty above, my water randomly broke out of nowhere (seemingly), and baby Josephine was born the following morning after about 10 hrs of labor (Friday)! Was lucky to have a pretty straightforward birth – will share the story soon. My recovery has been easy, but unfortunately we’re still in the hospital because Josephine has jaundice and has been under the lights. That has been rough, but we’re hoping we can take her home today.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

tiffanybruiser :  omg congratulations! I was just thinking about you today and came here to check on you haha so glad to hear! Postpartum hormones and having them under the lights is so hard I balled all day. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

afm Autumn is going to be 15 weeks on Thursday! Think she’s teething already. Rosie cheeks, tons of drool and chewing on anything she can get her hands on. She’s rolling over to her side, Back to tummy and tummy to back. She’s super smily! She was considered colicky for the first few months but it seems like she’s been crying way less for the past few weeks which is a relief. Wakes up once a night. She’s a tiny girl 11 pounds only at 3.5 months old!
