I’m about to finish college in May with a double bachelor’s in two engineering disciplines. As it turns out, my city doesn’t have much in the way of jobs in either field. I’m also fresh out of a rough relationship that gave me a good bit of insight in what I do and don’t want in a guy. Before that, I spent 3.5 years single by choice after a string of bad dating decisions that followed the split from my high school sweetheart. So basically I’m about as unattached as one can get.
Since I’ve lived in this city for (almost) 24 years and have never lived farther than 30 miles from the house I grew up in, I’m looking for something new. I’ve decided to find a job outside the state, pack up, move, and see what happens.
I’m actually really looking forward to it and it’s an idea I’ve thrown around for a while. I’ve been living on my own for about three years so that part won’t be anything new. Have any of you ladies done this? How did it turn out? Where did you move from and where did you end up, and what prompted the move? How did you decide where to go? And out of curiosity, did you end up finding your guy there or was he hiding in your hometown the whole time, or was he somewhere else? Any tips / suggestions / warnings or things you wish you’d done differently?
