Our chapel doesn’t allow petals strewn down the isle, or anything tossed outside the church (boo). So I just came up with the idea – what if people showered us with petals as part of our grand entrance into the reception? Our reception is in a newly converted barn (wood floors) so nothing would get mashed into carpet. Of course I’ll have to ask to see if it’s ok, but what do you think of this idea?

Well as for things not being strewn on the ground, there are still the always-popular bubbles if you don’t want to forgo the grand exit! Or even sparklers, if they’ll permit it.
I’m having a hard time picturing how the petals coming into the reception would work, since usually everyone is seated when the bride and groom enter…what would the set-up look like? If there was a way for you to set up some kind of ‘path’ as you walk to the reception site I think it would be really cool! Another option I’ve seen is for people to do the ‘grand exit’ from the actual reception at the end of the night, assuming you can swing leaving earlier and have someone to take care of the break-down.

Our venue did not permit flower petals on the wood floor. They said the petals stain the wood. I have always like the bubble idea. You can also have ribbon wands that people wave. If I had heard of this when I was planning, I would have done the ribbon wands.

Alright, I chatted with my ceremony site and they agreed we could do a toss there as long as someone picked them up afterwards! and my DOC doesn’t mind being that person 🙂 problem solved! I guess this idea was kinda weird after all anyway!

Hmm, that would become messy. So I say no.

Glad you got it worked out. I didn’t think it was weird. But wasn’t sure if you’d be able to do it at the reception.
