@adub7: I have heard some good things about the seamstress from Memories Bridal in downtown kzoo. (BTW I got my dress at Becker’s too!)

@adub7: I had a Sottero & Midgley dress too (RSM1036) and I was scared to death because it has horistonal lines of beading. But what my seamstress told me was not to worry because the dresses are made to be able to be hemmed easily. On my dress there was actually a place in the horitonal lines to make the hem shorter.

@adub7: DO NOT use becker’s seamstresses. They had a ton of complaints on their facebook page by brides (which would randomly get deleted BTW).

I took ours to a family friend in Jackson so no help there. Have you googled reviews in general for Kzoo wedding seamstresses?

@adub7: I Just bought my dress at Becker’s also and they also reccomended HA alterations. The woman who helped me at Becker’s said that she was getting married in September and this was where she was going to take her dress because they were really good. If Becker’s employees are willing to use them I would hope that they are good? I am a little hesitant, too, without having reviews. I don’t know if you noticed, but on their website there is a 20% off coupon.

@adub7: If I were you…I would DEFINITELY take my dress to Ha Alterations. I was a bridesmaid and we also got our dresses at Becker’s Bridal. They highly recommended Ha Alterations, we listened to them and everything turned out BEAUTIFULLY. The brides dress had nothing but beads on it, it had to be taken in, shorten, bustled and the corset had to be made bigger. It looked AMAZING!!! They have excellent customer service. Their prices are more than decent. They don’t have their 20% off coupon anymore but if you send all of your bridesmaids there, they will definitely give the bride 20% off. Even after the wedding, I still go there for my other needs. They know how to fix almost everything!!!

I just got my dress from Becker’s (Allure 9000), and they ripped the crinolines out of the bottom so that it’s sheath style instead of mermaid, and it looks FANTASTIC! However, I have to get the bust taken in a little bit, and I think the shoulders might need some work. My dress is all lace, btw.

They recommended me to go to Ha Alterations, and I am really wary about it because this is $1,700 worth of lace that we’re talking about. It’s also my dream dress, so I don’t want to wear anything else!

I will let you know how it goes–I am going to take it to Ha Alterations unless I can find a place that is well-reviewed for my needs.

I know this thread is old, but Memories in Kalamazoo does not have an in-house seamstress. They will recommend places to go, but they do not offer in-house alterations.

@mydernieredanse:  Please let me know how HA Alterations works for you.  I am just starting my search for a seamstress in the area and have absolutely no idea where to go.

I’m also in the Grand Rapids area and need my dress taken in, a few stays taken out, hemmed and bussled.  I need some changes, nothing too drastic but am SO scared to not have Alfred Angelo take my dress in. I bought a sample dress they had but do not want to pay designer prices to have it altered.

Any luck with Ha Alterations?!

@Peather2013:  I am also an Alfred Angelo bride.  What dress do you have?  I am the Belle 217 dress!  I am hoping to hear from others that have used HA Alterations, but haven’t had any luck yet.

I actually have a retired sample dress. I don’t remember the style number off hand but it’s the perfect dress! I think it’s W2083.

I was hoping to hear back from anyone about Ha because I read only 2 bad reviews and all others were great reviews.  I am so scared to have someone take my dress in because it’s sort of the most important dress in my life, my wedding dress!

=/ I hope to find a seamstress sooner than later as well so that prices don’t sky rocket.
