Just a funny story…
I was over to my FI’s grandma’s house (she lives right next door and since my grandparents all departed before I was 10, we sort of “share” her…so I talk to her a lot and call her Grandma and everything…) and she was asking me about some of the details of the wedding. When she asked me who my maid of honor was going to be, I said “My brother” (I don’t really have many girl friends and my brother and I are very close)
Her face was hysterical! I almost laughed out loud it was so funny! Her eyebrows shot up to her hair and she looked like she’d just taken a bite of lemon! Then she said, “Oh, well that’s nice” LOL, it was so funny, poor Grandma! I did tell her that I am having a bridesmaid, my one female friend, but my brother is considered the “Attendant of Honor” because he’ll be the one signing the marriage certificate… She seemed to be relived that I would have at least one girl…still, it was so funny!
Have any of your grandma’s or grandpa’s had funny reactions to something a little “untraditional”?

When I introduced MM to granny (she was 93 at the time) she said “that man looks at her as if he just bought the best candy in the candy store”

lol, my parents freaked out when I told them I would have a bridesman and that Fiance would have a groomsmaid. “You CAN’T do that! Everyone will think they’re GAY. And everyone will be paying attention to them and not you!” Never mind the fact that the groomsmaid is in a serious relationship with one of the other groomsmen. We finally just switched them to keep the peace.

I almost died when our pastor opened the ceremony by mentioning seeing my now husband and I when we first started dating- out buying beer. I looked to my very conservative, very traditonal mother, who was holding her tissue, still smiling. Turns out the PA failed and she couldn’t hear a thing. Yes, Momma, I only drink iced tea and I don’t cuss… poor woman, let’s spare her the truth.

We’re each having a maid of honour (our sisters) and best “dudes” (our brothers) and then niece and nephew as Flower Girl and Ring Bearer. Our Mom’s actually concocted this plan together and then “strongly suggested” it.
