Sorry, but it just doesn’t work for me. As you said, the grapefruit is too big and there is a disconnect between the flowers and the vase.

Here is one using smaller grapefruit and with the flowers cut lower and arranged closer to the vase.

These are 2 of my color combos;}

Songstress_7:  I really like the idea and think it will make lovely center pieces. In the pics you posted, I feel like the grapefruit slices overwhelm your beautiful flowers. Maybe using smaller slices, like in the picture the PP posted, would help. Or, it might be a good idea to fill out the flower arrangement a bit more with other flower types or greenery, etc. in addition to your beautiful roses.

Songstress_7:  It does look better with the shorter roses, but I would also consider softening the whole look with a some hydrangea or other lacy filler flower.

very cool idea – I agree with PP to try it with a soft white filler between the grapefruit and roses. they are so unqiue and such lovely colors, they should stand out! best of luck!

Songstress_7:  I personally like them. It does look better with the cut down flowers and I would add some baby’s breath or something to fill it in but I think they will look great!

I think with some other flowers and filler, it will look great! I love that look, so summery – it’s making me crave grapefruit! haha

I prefer the roses shorter.  If you are concerned about the grapfruits looks squished in the vase, maybe you could gut the grapefuits smaller or in half?  Example:<br /> grapefruit slices as a vase filler!
