@UpstateCait: He’s actually a Chesapeak Bay Retriever. I think they created that breed by breeding chocolates with newfoundlands. They are like giant labs ๐Ÿ™‚

I can’t stop “SQUEEEE!”-ing and “AWWWW!”-ing! Here’s our kitty kitty: As you can see, he thinks he’s people. Like most furbabies, I’m sure.

Sorry the pics are huge, I’m in the remedial class when it comes to resizing Undecided

This thread reminds so much of why I want a Corgi (and that FH thinks they are too small… psh, they’re awesome and great around horses)

I guess I can dig up pictures of my family Sheltie (made it to 14, not bad for a slightly overweight serial napper)

This was the last year we did the costume class. Got BiS but I didn’t want to put him through another costume failure

So the year after that we did obediance… worst idea ever (super ADD)

@Miss.Lace:

I’m the undisputed English Bulldog lover of all time (grew up with them my whole life, I’ve had four so far).  While they are wonderful, hilarious companions and are low maintenance in terms of training (my mom always says they’re “one step up from a ceramic dog” i.e. suuuuuper lazy), they have a good deal of health issues that can quickly get very expensive.  Wrinkles and other skin issues and allergies are one, others include eye problems (cherry eye, eyelashes that grow INSIDE the eyelid; both require surgery), luxating patellas, in which their kneecaps “float” and can cause joint problems, hip  and other joint issues because of their build, and of course breathing problems, which comes with the territory of their sweet smushy face; because of this they CANNOT tolerate heat- they can get heat stroke very easily.

I don’t want to rain on your parade because they make magnificent pets for the right owner, but I see so many people who are taken in by their cute faces and sweet temperaments and don’t know what they’re in for.  They’re probably one of the most expensive breeds to own

@mrs.tobe: I’m rather surprised you don’t know about any of their issues besides their wrinkles if you have a stud dog.  I hope that was me mis-reading your posts and assuming, though!

Cute animals!  All so very snuggle-able! ๐Ÿ™‚

@maladroite: She knows what comes with the territory. But she’s a lover of the breed and especially of her baby so I think it was more “here is what’s AWESOME” than “here are all the things that can go horribly wrong.”

@HappilyEverAfter54: I can’t see pics but if they had lots of fur, flat faces, squished tiny noses and huge eyes, then they’re Persian cats, same breed as mine ๐Ÿ™‚ They have the best temparement of any cat IMO, they’re so gentle and loving, but they’re also pretty high maintenance. They have to be brushed at least once a week, have their eyes cleaned everyday, and bathed and groomed about twice a year.

I forever love corgis and want one sooooooo badly, but alas, I’m allergic to all things fur.  Didn’t stop me from begging my parents for a mini dachshund puppy when I was 14, and by god, Heidi is still alive and well (aside from being pretty blind and deaf) and living with my parents just a mile down the street at 16 (sixteen) years old.  She’s such a cutie pie I just love her to pieces. Here she is enjoying the breeze on a dock during a trip to Florida:

@Lolasmomma: OMG I am in LOVE with Lola!!

And all of the cat photos are too cute, especially when they are upside-down or laying in sinks. ๐Ÿ™‚

Here’s our Sugar Magnolia (“Maggie”), eating our wedding cake (actually, our ‘grandma’s cake,’ because we served pies as our main dessert)… and then licking her chops, LOL:
