I have to tell you about the great experience I had at our local David’s Bridal.
I went there the other day to pick up my dress and speak to the fitting department. When I went to check the dress and sign for it, the skirt had a huge black spot on the side. Donna, my consultant (she is freaking AMAZING) immediatly grabbed the dress and took it back to the fitting dept to see if they could get it out. The manager was working the check in desk, Donna went to speak to her, turns out they were really worried they wouldn’t be able to get it out and didn’t think they could get a replacement in time. While I waited I went to chat with the manager and asked her if, since my dress dropped in price if there was anything they could do. She said not really, but if there was something on the clearance rack for the difference, she might see what she could do.
The guy from fittings came back with my dress and it was perfect, no sign there was ever a spot there. YAY! In the clearance section of the bridal gowns there was the original tea length dress that I had fallen in love with two years ago and I thought it was discontinued and gone. Perfect fit! And it was exactly the difference in what my dress had dropped by.
Back in fitting, I was able to show the lady that I wanted a bubble hem and an all the way around the dress bustle to make the dress tea length if I wanted to keep it on the whole night. I was told by several seamstresses that it was impossible, but the DB alterations told me no problem, she said she had never seen it before but she would love to do it and she loved the way it was looking with the ballgown and so did I.
I absolutely loved my experience with DB and I couldn’t possibly brag any more about my consultant. Over the two years of dealling with this wedding and other formal events, she remembers details about my life and FH. The minute I walked in the door, she knew my dress was in the back and went to go get it with out asking my name. Donna is hands down, the best bridal consultant I have ever seen.

@tksjewelry: Dude, that’s awesome that you got a good consultant. I’ve delt with sulky types, or the ones who act like they have so many better things they could be doing, etc. I found a great one at my last stop, and where I ultimately bought my dress. Every other bride trying on was jealous about how much fun we were having! (that was only slightly narcissitic…lol)
I’m so glad they got that spot out, I think I would have been having a mini-heart-attack for you if they hadn’t gotten it out.
So you got the other dress too? Is that what I’m hearing??

@Mrs.tobe: Yup. Here is the second dress. (I stole the pic from someone selling it in the classifieds), I may wear it to the rehearsal and return the other one as I haven’t even opened the box yet.

@tksjewelry: Awwww, so pretty! I would totally return the other if I were you. And you need to come over to the chat for a bit and keep us company 😀

Glad to hear you were taken care of! My experiences with them include almost NO help from the consultants or the alterations dept for special requests, so this was win win it sounds! The short dress is super cute by the way

Yay!! I had a great experience at my local DB too! My consultant was so patient with me as I flip flopped on 2 different dresses. I must have been driving her crazy, but she was so sweet and attentive. I loved her! I actually haven’t purchased the dress yet, (I got cold feet :D), but I’m almost positive I’ll be back there to purchase it from her.

🙂 I am so happy to read you had such a great experience!! I had an excellent experience at DB. They were always polite and friendly. My consultant talked in Spanish to my mom and never pressured me to buy my dress. When I was having second thoughts they were super nice and let me go in and try other dresses and actually told me I could change my order, if I needed to (which in the end, wasn’t necessary). The alteration people were always super nice and friendly and altered my dress perfectly. I had a great experience at DB too!
