So I’m 5 months pregnant and Fiance and I we’re told this idea from a co-worker of mine and let me just say it’s genius!!!!
Start an email for your baby, send letters, pictures, whatever and give them the password on their 18th birthday!
Now I was asked why don’t you just write letters? True I could but it’s so much easier to just send an email, and our kid won’t have to open letter after letter it’s all right there and they’ll never lose it.
So I made the email address right after I heard the baby’s heartbeat and Fiance and I send email when anything major happens in the pregnancy. We’ve also sent pictures. And we’ll continue you to do this!
Any ideas you ladies have?!

Aww, that is pretty cute, but I’m pretty sure that by the time this baby is 18 (or heck, even 13) technology will have advanced even further and e-mail will be way different. Just think of how far we’ve come in the last 18 years!

@eecuadrado: I would be too nervous to do that. I feel like something physical would be preserved better over time. Do you log into the account occasionally? I think for some email accounts if you don’t log into it after a certain period of time then it will be closed. It’s a cute idea, but I think logistically hard to pull off, especially not knowing what technology is going to be like in the future.

@hotpinkbride: True true! but yeah I log in every once in a while to check and see if Fiance has written but I’ll have to make sure that I check it every so often so that doesn’t happen

@eecuadrado: Hmm I don’t have any ideas. I end up typing my little update letters out and placing a few pics with them. News gets slower after the u/s, and I find myself more tired, stressed, and cynical in my pregnancy now than I was prio to the u/s. Plus, we are having a boy, and I don’t know that a boy would appreciate this as much as a girl. I do spice up my letters with funny stuff and be all jokey when I can, but I have slowed down my efforts in the past few weeks.

@megz06: Yeah I totally know what you mean! I’ve only written three times; when I heard the heart beat, sent holiday pictures, and about the grand debate between Fiance and I about if the baby is a girl or boy. I try to keep the letters funny because if we do have a boy he’s gonna be like “for real mom -_-” lol But I totally hear you on that pregnancy is not what people say it is lol

I would write a few letters, and get some other people to write letters, and scan the into the emails, that way they have your handwriting. It’s really nice looking through birthday cards from relatives that have passed away, and to see the notes they wrote in their own hand.

A large part of me wants to preserve the things I’ve grown up with, and not be a totally tech savvy and mom and family. So I would rather write letters and cards to my child than emails. Just my personal preference
