My sister had one of the best ideas of our wedding. Afterwards, we still had lots of flowers despite encouraging people to take some with them. So my Dad brought them to a local nursing home. When my husband and I went back a few days later to pick up the vases we had left, the residents and staff were so excited to meet us and to thank us for giving them such beautiful flowers to decorate their dining room and common space. We spent some time talking to the residents and it was such a touching moment. What great perspective after the whirlwind of a wedding!

Thats pretty common around here. Alot of people donate them to either nursing homes or hospitals. It’s a great idea.

Awww that’s a lovely idea! We gave a few out to our neighbours, and I brought one to my grandmother’s nursing home. Unfortunately though the silver (although not real silver thankfully) teapot it was in went “missing”, so I’d just be aware that whatever you distribute may not return, so don’t go giving away the family heirlooms or anything 😉
Along those same lines, if you have a family member in a nursing home who can’t make it to the wedding, it’s nice to dress up in your wedding clothes and go visit with a few photos. We did this for my grandma and it gave everyone in the home a real kick to see a bride and groom all dressed up! It really lit up their day I think! I sort of want to do it again, I loved seeing everyone so happy and excited 🙂
