I recently bought a light ivory Maggie Sotero dress; Maggie’s ivory is a lot lighter that other designers, and looked better on me than the really white dresses.
Problem came when I went to Men’s Wearhouse and saw the VERY dark “ivory” shirt and very yellow looking ivory vests to choose from. I walked out of there and regretted my ivory color choice…. The groomsmen are wearing dark purple vests & ties with black suits, and the Men’s Wearhouse ivory shorts made it look like they would be wearing yellow and purple with black suits. (Plus that ivory looked bad on my groom because it washed him out.)
I went to Bonardi’s and instantly loved their very subtle ivory shirt and ivory vest that went perfectly with my dress. Bonardi’s has an ivory that is more of a soft white, so the harsh white won’t contrast with the truer ivory of my gown.
I read all of the panic on here about the men and ivory shirt choices, and just wanted to add that Bonardi’s is awesome for solving this problem because it still looks like a white, and not dirty looking (in my opinion). There are a few locations in my area (Massachusetts), but I am sure that there have to be other tuxedo & suit rentals for men that have a better selection if there is not a Bonardi’s wear you live.
