Hi! I’m obviously partial because my Fiance is Greek, but Hawaii is one of my FAVORITE PLACES on Earth. So, here’s my personal opinion – you have plenty of time in either destination. I wouldn’t try to go to both Greece AND Italy in one trip, I think it would be a lot. Hawaii has spectacular beaches for swimming. I think Santorini is overall much more spectacular views wise than Hawaii, but if you love swimming in the ocean, you’ll find that Greece falls a bit short. The beaches aren’t as wonderful as Hawaii for swimming. Have you thought about a Greek Isles cruise? That would be super relaxing, moer affordable than going to Hawaii (most likely), and you’d get to see some of the most beautiful places on Earth.

I have been all over Italy, been to Hawaii and am dying to go to Greece. In Greece you have the food, architecure and truly a whole different vibe. Im assuming your dollar goes pretty far as well. You could easily spend all that time in Greece and get the R&R you are hoping for. They have some great island hopping cruises as well. This Bee votes Greece!

Greece or Italy. Hawaii is beautiful and if you’re want beaches over culture go for it. But you do get beautiful oceans in Greece and Italy for swimming.
Personally I love Greece. That would be my vote hands down. Athens and Santorini only so you’re not rushing. I’ve done only those two and Mykonos because I like taking my time when I visit.
Italy is lovely too. Cinque Terre is probably my fave place though I’ve not been to Positano yet and have heard amazing things about it. If Italy go Florence and Positano or Cinque Terre with maybe 1-2 days in Rome. You can’t leave it out if you’ve not been yet as it is a must do, just a bit hectic and crowded.
Really you can’t go wrong. Follow your heart and have an amazing time!!

Hawaii is so easy. Fly in, get to your resort that’s more than likely on the beach and you just stay and relax. We had a 7 day honeymoon in Maui and literally flip flopped between the beach and the pool and went out to dinner every night. It was awesome.
i do dream of going to Greece one day though so if I were in your shoes I might go for that!

mdlp : September is a very good season for Greece. July/August will be very hot, very busy and because of school holidays much more expensive. Prices drop a bit in early September but if you wait until later September you would get some really good deals and it will still be very warm and feel summery. You might need a cardigan some evenings but that’s ok and probably better than stifling summer heat. Even October would be good for Greece but if you want to sunbathe and spend time on the beach, September is better.

mdlp : You said yourself that Santorini is your dream, so go European for your hm! If you ever get a chance to go again and stay longer, great, if not – at least you can say you can cross off a bucket list destination from your list! Personally I would choose Greece/Italy over Hawaii.

September is perfect. We went last September and it was still very warm/hot in Santorini. We also went to Milos, much quieter island with some beautiful beaches.
