@Pollywog:  4 days for Island hopping is not enough time, because of the time it takes to get from island to island.  Best to pick one Island and just relax and enjoy it.

Food is very similar all over greece, mostly tavern style food.  Accomodation varies from $50 to $300 euros per night.  I found the cheap accomodation is fine basic and clean and you spend very little time in your room, we just laid on beach all day and went out at night.

Have to agree with PP that you won’t get much out of island hopping if it’s only four days. You can maybe visit 2, tops–and Santorini should be one of them.  It’s on a volcano,it’s jaw-droppingly gorgeous, and there is loads to see and do. Beaches? There’s 3 different kinds! White sand, black sand, even red sand. If you’re into wine, the island has its own varietal that is only grown in. Santorini. Food is wonderful–they’re famous for their cherry tomatoes and capers. I don’t recall the name of the hotel we stayed at in Fira, but most accommodations are going to be at least minimally decent. Rent an ATV and drive around the island. Super fun. Good luck planning! Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions about either Santorini or Mykonos.
