I have a few friends that also swear by green tea.

I wonder if you were eating enough before though? Running everyday is great, but it burns a lot of calories and you need to eat extra.

I hate to do this to you, but drinking the ‘diet’ version of anything (espeically bottled) isn’t healthy because its still chock full o’ additives.  If you drank green tea that you steeped in hot water, and used no artificial sweeteners, THEN it would have it’s benefits.  The stuff you’re drinking is not much different from crystal light, which I unfortunately found out is what was inhibiting my weight loss.  But that’s another story.

I think maybe your weight loss could be coming from lost muscle, or less calories consumed since you stopped running (I know I ate to ‘keep up’ with my running, but I was consuming more calories to do it), or maybe even weight lost due to more liquid consumption.

I think it’s great that you’re losing weight and are picking up healthier habits though!!! But I’d absolutely try brewing your own from tea bags and adding Stevia as a sweetener if you need it.

@morgyporgy:  I’m with you! I swear by Green Tea extract. The taste takes some getting used to but I take a dropper full in the morning and the evening and/or after heavy meals and I swear it makes me feel waaay better.

Ive heard a lot of people who swear by it too, from the way it was explained to me it sounds like the gist of it is that it speeds up meatabolism?but I may be wrong there…

Im yet to try it but Ive been thinking about it for a while. I dont drink tea or coffee though so Im not sure if I will  like the taste. what do you think it tastes like?

@KristenGotMarried:  I was going to say this same thing. I’m pretty sure you only get the full benefits if you drink the natural tea with no sugar or artifical sweeteners.

But good for you for losing that weight! It sounds like youre losing at a healthy rate too. Keep it up! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m coming to this realization myself. I have been swapping my regular soda for Lipton diet green tea. I know that getting soda out of there is great in itself, but I think the green tea is helping with my metabolism and I am peeing (sorry! lol) so much more.  I feel better too.

YaY!! Someone who see’s the benefits of green tea!! That’s Great that you lost 7lbs in one month! I was just telling my friend how Diet Green Tea (I alternate between Arizona and Lipton) seems to have helped me lose those 3 little pounds that wouldn’t go away.

I eat greek yogurt for breakfast too ๐Ÿ™‚  drink lots of water, but with every meal (or just whenever) I’ll have 8oz of green tea. After a work out too. At least 5 days a week I jog 5 miles and add about 30 min of yoga at least 3 days a week, then 2 days a week I do a 30 min upper body workout with weights.

But seriously, I am petite, and I am “small”, but I was 5lbs above my comfort weight for awhile (when you’re about 5′ tall, those lbs show), then it went to 3lbs above my comfort weight, and those 3 lbs would Not go away! Then I started diet green tea and those lbs are gone!

(As much as I love cardio- it clears my mind, I’d also like to add, that yoga is what totally changed everything. My waist got more defined, my muscle tone is more long/lean, and within 3 sessions, my abs were vibisbly toned…right on!!)

@KristenGotMarried:  Thanks so much!  Do you think the capsules would work as well or is the liquid extract better?

I would definately keep an eye on measurements and how your clothes are fitting. Usually when you lose weight after you quit working out it is from loosing muscle.

Way to go on the weight lost, it takes a lot of work!

That’s awesome that you’re losing weight. But like KristenGettingMarried said Diet & bottled green teas don’t have the same benefits as good old regular green tea, those bottles are packed with additives and not good ones. The nutritionist in the Cardiac Ward that my father and I attended told us to drink green tea that we brew ourselves and leave out the sugar, splenda, nutrisweet and if we needed to sweeten it use stevia. She also said to add a lemon, something about the lemon makes your body absorb more of the nutrients/antioxidants from the tea. I usually get my green tea form Dunkins in the afternoon, I think it’s a staple on their menu. I remember Dr. Oz saying the same thing about bottled teas as well.
