Do you have grey hair? Did you start finding grey hairs a lot younger than you thought you would?
It’s part of my genetic make up to have grey hair young…my grandmother went grey in her late 20s, my mom and her sister went grey at 19 and 21. My mom colored her hair for two decades before decided to just give up.
For some reason, I never really thought about it–even though my younger brother was the one who had grey hair sprouting up throughout his head as early as 19 (he’s 22 now). So a year and a half ago when I saw one I was still in a bit of a panic. It’s not many, and Darling Husband regularly sifts through my thick hair and plucks them out with tweezers (I will not indulge the “if you pluck it 6 more will come to it’s funeral” myth). They are mostly around my hairline and my temples, and all are buried under layers of hair so they aren’t right on the top. But I pull my hair back into a ponytail and all of a sudden I’m like…uh oh!
I don’t know when I should start fighting the good fight and color my hair…I really don’t want to!
I’m just wondering if any of you have gone through/are going through this and what you do!

I started going grey at 18. Small hairs here and there. I’m 27 now and would be completely grey if I didn’t color my hair every 4-6 weeks. It sucks.
At first I thought it added character and people wouldn’t notice since I looked so young…but when other parts of me started looking older I took to the good ‘ol box of color.

My grandmother went full white by 25 and from what she tells me, she has been rocking the natural white since then!

@IronMango: When my mom finally gave up coloring her hair in her mid 40s, her hair grew out to be a really lovely white/salt & pepper combination. Ironically, she gets more compliments on her hair than anyone I’ve ever known, so I guess there are worse things!

I’m blonde so no gray hairs for me yet. I had a boyfriend once who started going gray at 17. He’s 32 now and his black hair is almost half gray now.

I’m 31 and have found a couple grays in the last few months. It’s basically the same three or so that keep growing back. I will probably start coloring my hair soon though. Ugh.Just another expense I don’t want.

I’m 27 and I have tons of grey hair!! I started seeing grey hair when I was 15 and it got to be more and more so I started dying it becaause my mother would rip it out and it came in 2 or 3 strands at the same area so it would hurt!! When I let my hair grow out now I’d say it’s about 35-40% grey lol.

I first started getting them at 15, I’m 21 now and have a LOT, I dye my hair anyways though so they get covered up

My Fiance pulled a single grey hair out of my head about two years ago. I almost stabbed him. I can’t find any and he hasn’t dared pull out one (if he has seen one) since then. 😉

I’ll be 26 tomorrow, and I found my first grey hair a month or so ago. I stood in the mirror in shock until Fiance came in and pulled it out. So far, three more haven’t popped up in it’s place.

I started finding grey hairs in my mid 20’s. They only come in a small patch in the front and it’s easily covered up if I part my hair to the side. I dye my hair frequently though, so I couldn’t even say if they’re coming in in more places.
