American– my maiden name is Gray, and that’s how I’ve always spelled the color as well.

Also, my grandfather’s name was Earl Gray.  LOL.

Both. Depends how I want it to look.

I think about this word almost every time I write it down…because I alternate the spelling almost every time.  Once, I was writing something down and wrote it both ways in one sentence.  WHAT???

@lolaswann:  You should have an option for interchangeably. I can’t remember which one I usually write because I write both! Live in the U.S.

UUsually gray, and it’s also my favorite color. I only use grey for shades that seem “warmer”.

    These I would call grey…

    and these, gray…

I know that I am pretty much alone in this classification. I think subconsciously I’ve always gotten “gre(d)y”, “red”, from the g-r-e-y spelling.

I’ve caught myself using both! Gray – seems to come out ahead though in usage. I do the same thing with blond v blonde – In this case I tend to go with blonde.

I was born in the UK and pretty much grew up in America but I also occasionally find myself using more British spelling – colour vs color.  Often depends who I am writing too!

I’m American, and I spell it “Gray” because I think it looks prettier.  For some reason the “a” looks softer and nicer than the “e”…

I always feel like I’m spelling it wrong no matter which I use, but I think I go with grey more often.

I’m a non-native English speaker and I’ve often been confused about the correct spelling. So both are correct? Whew. I feel better now that I know I can’t screw this one up! 🙂

American here, and I used to use to switch it up between the two spellings until I found out the difference in spelling was regional. Now I stick to -ay, unless I’m talking about Grey’s Anatomy 🙂
