Cecilia started doing this at about 4 teeth.  I hate it so much.  We’re using distraction as our method of preventing.  I think it feels good to them, but it’s so bad for the teeth!

She does this other thing where she wags her tongue back and forth in a slightly open mouth and goes “Ledereederedereder”, so I do that as soon as she starts grinding and she’ll copy me and stop grinding.  She’s done the grinding a lot less this week, so I think it’s working.

My son did that as well, up until he was two! It was annoying as heck, and so bad on his little teeth!!! Drove me up the wall. Good thing they’re just baby teeth and he stopped after awhile so I don’t have to worry about it becoming a major habit and damaging his adult teeth.

@Mrs. Spring:  Glad it helped!  We had a little bit of grinding today that we couldn’t distract her out of, so we used the strawberry teether.  When they bite on it, it vibrates a bit.  That seemed to do the trick today.
