I spend about $60-$100 a month for 2 adults and 1 toddler. That’s not counting alcohol, household products, or takeout. I’m also in a very LCOL area, which helps. I stick to frozen veggies and casserole-type meals to stretch things out, so dinners are usually always accompanied with rice or noodles. Lunches are light, usually sandwiches or burritos. Dinner typically leaves us with leftovers which carries over for a meal the next day. Store brands give huge savings, and as a plus they tend to have less junk ingredients than many name-brands. I buy whichever diapers are cheapest (again, likely store-brand…they all do the same job. Just bought a box for $20 at WallyWorld), and the bulk packs last us a couple months. My child has never been a daily pooper, so that saves a lot on wipes. Hoping to potty train pretty soon to hopefully cut out diapers altogether!

Family of four here. We spend about $300/month and live in CA. We only eat out 1 to 2 times a week. We make a lot of things from scratch. I’m on a somewhat strict caloric intake diet, and my kids are small.

slomotion : 2 packs of wipes last a month and a half??? WHAT THE HECK ARE WE DOING WRONG??? lol. A pack of wipes lasts us a day, 2 max. We switched to the one and done ones, they’re thicker and supposed to use less of them but we’re still using way more every diaper change. Mind you, my husband won’t let dd sit in an even slightly dripped on diaper lol. We go through a lot of diapers too haha. 😭

To be fair, my kid isn’t a big pooper. She poops maybe once a day, sometimes twice and it’s usually solid poop so it doesn’t take but two wipes to clean her up.
Now she does owe every thirty seconds and we change her as soon as we notice. But that’s only one wipe.

lifeisbeeutiful : ok I also have to question – HOW do you go through a pack of wipes a day? Are you buying only the tiny travel ones? The ones I get (in bulk, from Costco) are 60 wipes per package. Daycare usually goes through about a pack/month and I’d estimate we use about the same at home, so about 2 packs per month. Now that she’s a toddler she usually poops once a day, but mostly they are 1-2 wipes (sometimes 3-4 if she has a particularly bad one). I don’t use a wipe for every little pee either – usually just the first one of the morning or if we’ve been in the car a long time and it’s really soaked. We only use wipes for cleaning hands/faces if we aren’t home otherwise we use washcloths.

LilliV : lol I use way too many wipes 😟 I need to start using 1 at a time, usually I grab 3-5 for every diaper change.72 wipes per package, I tend to also constantly use them to wipe her neck, cheeks, hands, etc etc throughout the day. The dog loves to be close to her so I’m wiping her head and cheeks and hands from his licks.

lifeisbeeutiful : definitely start with 1 and then evaluate if you need more. My dog and kid snuggle and lick each other all the time – I just let it go unless someone is really slobbery and then just do a wipe down/bath before bed.
