After 6pm on a Sunday is usually a decent time, I’ve found. I don’t shop at whole foods (we don’t have them), but Wegmans is similar and they generally stop being INSANE by about 6-6:30. So 8 should be fine. Though I do tend to find that Sundays are when a LOT of stock runs out – you might have better luck on a Monday morning.

The stores around here are PACKED every Sunday evening.  It’s awful.  I would recommend going at any other time in the entire world.

@bestbuddies:  In my experience, the earlier in the morning, the better.  But then again I have a Wegmans supermarket down the road that’s open 24/7 so between 9pm and 8am are the best times to go to avoid a crowd.

I worked overnight at a grocery store for over a year… After 8pm is good, and before 7am is good. And if you go at 2am, you have the whole store to yourself!

Definitely during the day during the work week is the best time!  The weekends are nuts!

Our stores are crazy Sunday night. I would find out what days your store gets produce shipments and go in the mornings on those days. I’d imagine that on Sunday the produce is days old and has been sitting in the coolers in the back.

Tuesday or Thursday is generally the slowest days to shop, I remember that from some study that I read a few years ago (I’m sure that’s changed 10 times since then). I generally avoid going shopping on the weekends, and go later, like 8pm on a weekday.

On the weekends I usually go at midnight or 1 am. It’s practically empty. If I go during the week, Wednesday after 7pm is also the easiest for me.

@bestbuddies:  By me, Sundays are the WROST time. Same for doing laundry. Everyone rushes to do it before the week starts.

I would say tonight is less crowded than tomorrow but it depends where you live. Our stores are a zoo during the day but we have a lot of old people that live here and they shop during the day time. We are usually okay anytime after 7 here but Saturday night (after 7) there is like no one there.

They always seem dead on weekday mornings to me.  I work, so I go on Saturdays or Sundays.  Here in Utah Sundays are usually slow.

Sunday after 8pm. But WAY after 8pm, lol. I like to grocery shop at around 1-2am. And d’oh, I suppose that would make it Monday. I don’t have a set day that I go, though. Solitude! It’s usually me and maybe a couple other customers in there for a few things if there’s anyone else shopping. I love 24 hour grocery stores.

Eh, crap. I should have answered the poll differently. Fail. D:

I find the last hour before closing on a weeknight is good.  People with kids generally don’t want to be shopping at 10:30.
