Background: I use an Android phone, my better half uses the not always better iPhone.
Challenge: I love my shopping app – OI Shopping List. However, my guy is now working at a new office one day a week near a very new and high end Wegmans. This means we try to have him do the grocery shopping for specialty items on his way home every Friday.
This morning, he said he would love an app that we could both have on our phones that would automatically sync between devices. That way I could make a shopping list, he could make a list, and whoever is at a store next can get everything.
Attempted Solutions: Our Groceries. I hated it. I couldn’t set up notes for items, only quantity. How was he supposed to know if 3 potatoes meant 3 individual potatoes or 3 pounds of potatoes? I put in maybe 4 items and then deleted it.
Grocery IQ. We just tried it for the first time. I set up the list on my phone and shared it with his. He checked off each item, and I could actually see when he was done shopping. It was rather amusing. However, it’s a bit clunky with the brand ads and the app pulling from a list of exact brand names. (I really didn’t care what brand of dijon mustard he picked up, but I had to create a new item to just say plain dijon mustard.)
Does anyone have any other suggestions? I haven’t fully explored app forums and the like, these were just the first two to sync across platforms that I found.
