- Wedding: October 2011
When we started discussing attire for my Fiance and his groomsman for the wedding he said he would rather have suits than tuxes. Fine with me. He said he’d just like all the guy’s to wear black suits and we could all get them a tie as part of their gift from us so they would coordinate. Fine with me again. We this weekend we happened to be in town visiting one of the groosman and he brought out his suit to show us….
Apparently I didn’t realize how different ‘black suits’ could be. None of the groomsman in the wedding are in professions that would require them to have suits. So the suits they have are random. Maybe something they got years back, some a little more dingy than others.
I brought up to the Fiance that I dont feel comfortable anymore with themj just wearing any old black suit. Could we rent suits or find a reasonably priced suit for them to all get. Lots of store where we live offer buy 1 get 2 free type deals. So if everyone put in, it would cut the cost for them all.
Well Fiance flipped out. That we cannot go and change our minds once we already said to just wear a black suit. He says I’m being too picky and all I want is him to give him and change his mind.
In all honesty, I do want him to change his mind. We are spending alot of money on this wedding. My girls are going to be purchasing dresses (reasonably priced ones too might I add) so why is is so unreasonable for us to ask the guy’s to get something so the look is consistent. I really am just scared we will look like a big mix and matched group of hobo’s out there.
What should I do? How do I approach this to get Fiance to understand my side? Am I being the dreaded ‘Bridezilla’ but wanting them to all wear the same thing?
