@tengaar:  Get him a facewash for oily skin, and a toner, and moisturizer.  Should help.

I agree to the above and for the day of you may want him to use a mattifying lotion to cut down on the shine and to use oil absorbing sheets prior to pictures.

Also if you want to be sneaky, maybe have one of your married girlfriends say that their husband wore a little powder ont he day of the wedding, just for pictures sake.  Having a pressed powder on wouldn’t be over the top at all – you’re not asking him to wear mascara or eyeliner!

No way would my fiance agree to make up. I do agree with the PPs, though, that a good face wash & moisturizer will probably work wonders. Also, your skin is often tied to diet, so you may want to take a look at his diet, too. Maybe you guys can alter your diet together to be healthier before the wedding. It could be a team effort, and will probably really make a difference.

How about a facial? They could probably recommend good products for him to use…

I know a lot of guys who use Benefit’s Porefessional. It mattifies and fills pores, with or without makeup on top. You could simply tell him it’s a pore filling lotion.

What about a primer on the day of? And just say its lotion?

Tough one.

My Fiance also gets really shiny: he has really dry skin so puts on Nivea after showering always: so his skin was often really shiny when we would go out 🙁

Sephora had their loose mineral powder foundation on clearance last spring, and I took a chance and bought two that I thought would be close to his skin tone. One was an exact match.

I bought a kabuki brush (a big one, he calls it the “Manbuki”), and started hinting that I powder his nose before we went out somewhere facy to dinner.  He grumbled mightily the first time, but after that it became easier.  Now before we go out (and for our e-pics) he’s like “do me baby”, and gets a nice sheer, matte coverage.

I know you’ve said there is no way…  but trying something (maybe even a primer, as jayebaby and @jjah89 suggest)

Cetaphil for oily skin works wonders for me! It’s very cheap and can be found at Walmart or drug stores.
