We are thinking he either wears black pants or black jeans…our wedding is fairly laid back, but my dress is the Disney Belle wedding dress.
I like the idea of him wearing jeans. But I worry he will look under dressed next to me in that dress. He will be wearing a black long sleeve button up shirt. He doesn’t do colour at all. Though he did say he may wear a red vest over his shirt, maybe. He will have to try one on and see. I like the idea of the jeans as it breaks up the black as the material of the shirt and pants will be different. I don’t want them to look like they’re in pyjamas. We are going to try some things on soon but in the mean time I just wish I could find some pictures so I can picture it in my head right.
Do you think he will look under dressed?
Have you seen a groom in jeans…
Any pictures? I’m most interested in black jeans. And black shirt if you can find them. I can’t seem to find anything when I look online.
Thanks for your help 🙂

I think with that dress, he will look significantly underdressed standing next to you! Personally, I believe the groom should wear a suit for the wedding, or dress pants at the very, very least.
I have never, ever been to a wedding where the groom wore jeans. I recently went to one where the groom wore cargo shorts, and honestly, there was a lot of snickering going on during the reception about his under-dressed attire from his guests (his family and friends included).

I think he can do pants for such a special day. Your dress will make him look severely underdressed…

@abbie017: Yes that what I was worried about too! People talking… I just worry that all black/same material may look odd as well. Even if he wore a suit he’d have all black on; shirt, jacket, pants. He could wear a jacket any way but our wedding is in spring in Australia and I don’t know whether they would get too hot in a jacket. He did say he’d see about the red vest so if he likes it I guess that will break up the black if he wears dress pants and a black button up shirt.
Thanks for replying 🙂

@axeyourmakeupkit: Yeah I think they will… sucks cos i really love it when he wears a button up shirt and jeans. He looks really good like that. Maybe if my dress was less formal it would have worked.

What about breaking it up with a striped shirt in black?

@axeyourmakeupkit: Hmmm that may work…good idea! Thanks 🙂 Over the next couple of weeks we will need to get him/them sorted. We had a bit of a look yesterday but just looking not trying on.

I don’t have any pictures online of my cousin’s wedding, but at their wedding all of the guys from the groom down to the ring bearer had on black wrangler jeans. In all of the pictures and stuff you couldn’t tell that they were wearing jeans instead of dress pants.

FYI this is black on black dress pants of course.

What’s wrong with black on black?
Yes, he will look super underdressed standing next to you in that beautiful gown. PS: SO pretty!!!
He will also look underdressed in a vest without a jacket. If you want him to look as dressed as you, his options are:
-Button up in black, white, or grey (you said he doesn’t ‘do’ color).
I highly recommend getting a very lightweight suit. My FI has suits in every weight- he has some so light that he says it’s as comfortable as wearing a polo.

Black pants and shirt will never be the same fabric because shirts are different than pants. We did black pants with white shirts and FI wore a black vest for our wedding and its defiently not a suit but it is much dressier than Jeans. I think if jeans fit with your theme and your dress was different it might work. As a guest Id be asking what the joke was if I saw you in your amazing dress and your FI in jeans.
