We’re having a pretty casual (semi-formal?) wedding. The guys will be wearing suits instead of tuxes. And the bridesmaids will all be wearing different, short dresses in the same color.
Well, my fiance has already told the groomsmen to buy/wear a black suit. And their ties will most likely match the bridesmaid dresses (dark teal blue).
But, my fiance now wants to wear a charcoal suit with a black tie. Will that look OK? I know the opposite would probably be more “traditional”…groom in black, groomsmen in charcoal. But my fiance saw this look somewhere, and he wants it. Sooooo…will it look good? Groom in charcoal, and groomsmen in black?
Please let me know what you think! And if you’ve done the same thing, post photos if you have them!!

Yes! The Bride AND the Groom should stand out. I would make sure that the Groomsmen’s accessories matched up though (shoes, ties/bow-tie, suspenders, vests, etc.).

@jasmina.radjevic: When I read your post, I thought I had written it! We have a similar situation happening. When we started planning our wedding, we decided not to have the GMs purchase new suits simply for our wedding. So they’re all wearing black. My Fiance found a charcoal grey suit that he loves and wants to wear. I agree with rozbudr in that you and him should stand out while the bridal party is in the background. The teal colour you’ve chosen will look fantastic with both colour suits and that’s what will pull the look together.
For us, my BMs are wearing champagne dresses, my Maid/Matron of Honor is in chocolate brown and my dress is ivory. My Fiance is set on a charcoal grey suit and the GMs in black. He’ll stand out among them, he and I will photograph well together, but I don’t know how to bring it all together because there seems like there’s too many colours. And I’m too far along in the planning to change anything! So confused!
